DETROIT (AP) -- Armando Galarraga of the Detroit Tigers lost his bid for a perfect game Wednesday night with two outs in the ninth inning on a disputed call at first base. Replays appeared to show Cleveland hitter Jason Donald was out.

Tigers manager Jim Leyland immediately argued the call with first base umpire Jim Joyce, and was joined by several Detroit players who surrounded the ump after the Tigers beat the Indians 3-0.

You think Selig really cares about a perfect game and the record books? He was the ringleader for steroid use when Bonds, McGuire, et al, were breaking HR records.

If you haven’t yet noticed, you seem to be doing more whining than anyone else. Ironic, isn’t it?

They charged the ump after the game when the umps were leaving the field. Leyland stepped in and gave all the heat, while the players pulled each other away.

When you see the replay, notice the players don't charge the ump to yell and argue. The call was so bad they looked stunned. The second baseman just starts laughing. It was so bad, what can you do?

“He's had many good years in MLB, and he'll be living with this forever now.”

As well he should. MLB umps make $300k or more a year. The play wasn't even close. He either wasn't paying attention or was out of position.

Not even close. In the history of the game many missed calls that could have been outs. Meaning if the pitcher pitched 9 innings there were “28” outs.

An open letter to the President of the American League and the Comissioner of Baseball:

I have loved baseball my entire, rather long life.

The League President and the Commissioner, for the integrity of the game, have a duty and responsibility to reverse the call. Fix it. Get it right.

It is sufficiently clear. Statistics regarding the 28th batter can be reversed out.

A concept such as “we don’t change calls after the fact” holds no water in these rather unique circumstances. Fix it. Get it right.

There is the concept of a protested game, when the actual outcome of a game can be reversed after the fact. By the League President.

There is the concpt of “thrown games,” when the Comissioner can do as he sees fit to fix things, to get them right.

That is what leadership is about. To do otherwise is simply pigheaded stubborness. Do not hide behind the skirts of the law.

Put an asterisk in the Rulebook under your unilateral authority for the integrity of the game: Replay can be used when the call for the 27th out of a Perfect Game is in dispute.

Gentlemen, fix it. Get it right.

Thank you.

It’s like Milt Pappas but with a hit rather than a walk.

When I checked it out there were three death threats posted on youtube.

I am serious this guy is going to need protection.

I am also willing to bet that Galarraga would be the first one to tell the fans to leave the guy alone.

The commissioner will not intervene. It was a judgement call for the ump and no replay allowed. Can't change the deal after the fact.

I think in some twisted way the leagues want these now and then. Keeps the fans stirred up. They could eliminate 99% of these calls, but they don't. Many say they don't want to change the nature of the game (human error), but they have crossed the line with replays on foul balls down the line and out of the field.

I know he won’t. But just damn, that was such a horrendous call, it’s offensive to the eye.
