This is all in line with my thinking. The minute you hear the words 'bank holiday', hell is just a short time away. This is why I have a
72 hour combat/bugout kit in my vehicle at all times. And more than one plan to get back home. Which, for me, is well out in the countryside. Thank heavens above we moved where we did 11 years ago.

Agreed. My BO kit stays in the car, always.
We have a place way out in the woods in northern ME as a rally point. My longer-term gear is always ready to go; all of it can be loaded into my SUV in about four minutes. This would include most of my food, which is pre-loaded into heavy-duty containers and a cartop box, and about 5K rounds of ammo.
