Jacques Villeneuve believes McLaren will have a strong race in Montreal this weekend. The 1997 world champion will be at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, the layout of which is named after his late and revered father. "Cars equipped with the F-duct should have a good performance," he said. "It is a circuit requiring low downforce and with low speed corners, which I think will suit McLaren."

Formula 1 governing body the FIA has confirmed that former double world champion Emerson Fittipaldi will be the ex-driver in race control as the sport makes its return to Canada this weekend. Chief technical officer Mike Gascoyne is hoping that "bullet-proof reliability" in Canada can enable his Lotus team to score its first points of the season. "It's one of those races where it's possible to pick up points and we've got to put ourselves in a position to do that," he said. "We've two very experienced drivers in the car which will help us be there at the finish, and that's the primary goal."

Williams team principal Sir Frank Williams has said that he would be pleased to see the use of Kers (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) devices made mandatory in F1. First used in the sport last year, teams agreed not to use the expensive systems in 2010 - although low-cost solutions have been discussed for upcoming seasons. "I am a strong supporter of the use of Kers," said Williams. "But it should be compulsory - either we all use it, or we don't."

Michelin has warned that time is now 'very tight' to get a tyre supply deal in place for next season, as confusion continues to surround the ongoing situation for 2011. "Time is getting very tight to develop a product that is consistent, delivers good performance and above all is safe," said Michelin's competitors chief Nick Shorrock.

question: how does he rev the engine while downshifting with an electric shift and no clutch...???

does the program allow for rev-ing the engine until the paddle is released and actually shifts on paddle release???
