Please Admins and IT Folks fix this site. The way it is operating now is tantamount to a DOS Attack.

It’s so frustrating, I’m about to give up on it.

Sending them money will do more to fix it than complaining or begging.

There's a møøsë stuck in the boot sector. The admins are currently attempting to lure him out with a piece of cheese.

That happened to me recently. I locked my purse with my cellphone and my keys in my car. I called from a phone in a nearby building.

I've been on FR since 1998, and mostly it's been up and fine 24/7 all those years.

It's technology, and it's going to "burp" every once in a while...I'm sure they are working on it as hard as they can go.

Patience is a virtue.

Do a DNS flush on your conputer and see if that helps...

That's what fixed it for me.

It wasn’t Onstar. It was the campus police where I work that came to my assistance.

Okay, here’s the deal, if ya’ll promise to vote for Sarah in 2012 I will cease my “broadcast storm” against the FreeRepublic. If you fail to make the promise, I will post “I’d hit it” on every thread, even if it doesn’t make sense within the context. /sarc

This morning I did notice it running very slow, felt like a DDOS attack to me, probably the new web neutrality being test out /not sarc

This site is too important to be so poorly protected from downtime.

Considering that it is a DONATION SUPPORTED WEBSITE, it has been down a very small percentage since it's inception. There are now TWO different ALTERNATE WEBSITES for FR, just in case it is down. Jim Rob and staff should be commended for the uptime percentage they have achieved, and the speed with which they address problems. Name another website (donation supported) that has done as well.

Just because we are all like junkies without a fix is not to be laid at the feet of the WEBSITES STAFF.

Patience is a virtue.

Too bad I don't have much either.

It may be on your end. Mine is working great.

Try a reboot.

Try rebooting.

That would mean logging off.

You might as well ask Freepers to quit breathing.

: )

I haven’t had much trouble today, but over past few days it was down a lot. Very annoying.

And won’t the Left be glad if you and others do give up on it. After all, they have tried so hard to get rid of FR for so long.

FreeRepublic is having problem with one of their servers. They reside at IP addresses:

209.157.64.201 (Having Problems)
209.157.64.200

If your DNS decodes to the .201, it will probably be problematic. You can enter the hardcoded IP address as a temporary fix. This is not advised since they could change their hardware IP addresses and it also eliminates cross hunting.

As stated earlier (but not explained) you should try flushing your DNS cache as shown below:

Enter the Command Prompt: (Start/Program/Accessories/Command Prompt).

Enter: ipconfig /flushdns (Enter)

Close window and enter “www.freerepublic.com” and it should resolve. If that does not work, you can temporarily use the hard coded IP address (.200) until the problems are resolved.
