PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- A Boy Scouts chapter in Philadelphia may have ousted just one gay scout in the decade since the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the organization's right to ban gays, but that doesn't mean untold others haven't been shut out, a city lawyer told jurors Tuesday......

And any politician that has his name on the promotion of this idea should pay out monetarily the first time a family has their child molested by a troop leader.

We have the right to assemble as we see fit. It’s that simple. Don’t need superfluous court cases for such an obvious non-issue.

The BSA has a ban on adult Gays being in the woods with little boys. 12 year old boys shouldn’t even be thinking about being Gay.

I was not aware the Scouts care about a boy’s sex life (DADT rules...please)- just those of any adult volunteer who wants to be a leader.

I live in the Philly ‘burbs-been here 6 years or so. It’s surreal. You hear these Center City hipster wannabe douchebags-they hate Bush, Cheney, etc. The Scouts are “Nazis” because they don’t include gays, etc, the guy who had the “Please speak English” sign outside his cheesesteak stand is the worst person on earth, etc etc but as to Obama, or Islamic terrorism, or the rampant black crime, corruption, and dysfunction destroying the city—all there is is silence

Years ago, when this issue had assumed a high profile, I remarked to an advocate of letting gay men be Troop leaders, would you allow me to lead a troop of teenage girl scouts?

The answer from the lady was an emphatic NO!

And my reply, but if I was gay you’d let me take charge of a bunch of adolescent boys.

No response.

BTW, the girl scouts haven’t and won’t go co-ed.

Yet there is constant pressure on the Boy Scouts to go co-ed.

All this pressure only goes one way.

The exclusion of gays from axis to our children should not only be free, but rewarded!

And Philadelphia can't stop you from doing that. But they can stop you from doing that in a building built on city property without paying rent.

I got to be a Girl Scout leader. It was for a position no women could be found for and was a really long interview.

The city attorney should simply be required to both name the homosexuals and prove that they are, in fact, homosexuals ~ IN COURT!

If gays are prohibited from being leaders it would stand to reason they'd be prohibited from being members as well.

Note to Philly city government: When they nicknamed it the City of Brotherly Love, I don’t think they envisioned it involving a reacharound.

There's a lot of law involved in the property dispute. Apparantly the city gave permission to the Scout's to build a building on city land ~ and required a $1 rent.

End of story.

Now, if that particular contract was invalid, that doesn't mean the city can kick out the Scouts and keep the building for its own purposes. Remember, it's been there a long time, so at some point Pennsylvania's adverse possession laws and standards took over ~ provided the original contract was in error.

It could be the case that the city just simply lost the land ~ and they'll get to pay all court costs for their lawsuit.

Not quite. They forgot to get in in writing, and are finding out just how much hand-shake deals with politicians are worth.

True, and I assume the Scouts can force the city to give them fair market value for the building. I would think that at the very least they can prevent the city from using it in their absence.

A judge will have to decide it. And right now I wouldn't want to predict which way it would go.
