CHICAGO (AP) ― State officials say they'll waive the $20 fee on state-issued identification cards for homeless people.

The law is effective July 1.

The Heartland Alliance is an advocacy organization. It says there are nearly 50,000 homeless people in Illinois and they need state identification for access to many services, including federal and state aid and job training.

The Alliance's vice president, Heidi Nelson, says the law makes it easier for homeless people to have opportunities.

There are several qualifications to be eligible. They include that a person must lack a regular nighttime residence or relies on a shelter.

Does this make it easier for the Dems to commit more voter fraud than they normally do in the upcoming election? Hmmm.. Chicago.. And Obammy is from where?

Why do I suspect that this is just a sneaky trick to force those without IDs to get them? Lots of people go to great lengths to *not* have IDs, so that they can stay out of “the system”. They accept less than minimum wage work to be paid in cash, and they avoid government and any charity that requires personal information.

If it is a trick, the follow up will be that whenever the police stop someone, and demand their ID, if they don’t have it, the police will “detain” them until they have been issued an ID. And, of course, a copy of their picture, their fingerprints, and a sample of their DNA will remain with the police.

As a good rule of thumb, nobody wants anything to do with your personal identification information for *your* benefit. And, as an axiom, once they have your identification information, there is no end to the villainy they might use it for.

This takes away one of the Libs arguments against making voters show ID before voting.

It would of been nice if the AP had included all the requirements.

This is a great opportunity. It removes the only reasonable objection to requiring ID to vote: poor people can’t afford ID. Just waive the state ID fee for the indigent. Everybody wins. Suddenly they’ll have to show photo ID to vote. Voter fraud will decline.

I happened to have that link handy because my sweetie in Chicago recently got a traffic ticket, and he was a few days away from a cross country flight to attend a graduation.

Illinois is the ONLY state in the union that physically collects your traffic ticket at the moment it’s issued. They give you a duplicate copy of your ticket and that is supposed to serve as a substitute until your court date comes up. But it won’t do at the TSA counter, of course.

If I lived in Illinois, I’d have both a DL and the state issued ID for that very reason.

*typing too fast*

I meant to say that they collect your Driver’s License when your ticket is issued.

But I know you smart FReepers knew what I was trying to say!
