There's big news on the late night TV battlefront today: The Tonight Show with Jay Leno posted its lowest-rated Q2 -- the first full quarter since Leno came back as host after Conan O'Brien was dumped -- since the Late Show with David Letterman launched on CBS in 1993. Additionally, Late Show delivered its most competitive finish against The Tonight Show in viewers and key demographics since 1995. Still, Leno topped Letterman in the ratings during their first quarter in 9 months as late-night rivals. The Tonight Show averaged 4.0 million viewers and a 1.1/4 in adults 18-49, down 20% in viewers and 31% in adults 18-49 from last years second quarter, which was inflated by the big ratings for Lenos sign-off and Conan OBriens debut.

Talk about having no dog in this fight. There's no one to root for. I hate NBC, but I loathe Letterman, a lot.

Just why does anybody watch the late night shows’ drivel? They are not funny. They are not entertaining. Mainly...they are pathetic and o0ften offensive.

Ain’t that the truth! They *both* suck. I prefer sleeping to watching any of ‘em.

I think all that time-changing and conan in/out business really hurt the Tonight Show...but, it hasn't been worth watching since Johnny Carson left anyway.
Once in a great while when I see a guest that I actually know, I might tune in for just that guest, but most of the "child" stars out now aren't worth losing sleep over.
The skits are lame, or non-existent and the entire genre has gong plastic-banana, good-time, rock and roll, and is just not worth the time.
Of course, I couldn't stand Conan either...woodpeckerhead.

Leno is still doing George Bush jokes. No wonder.

‘The Tonighgt Show’ died with Carson.
NBC should bury it.
