Tiger Woods Fails to Break Par at AT&T
Golf FanHouse ^ | 7-4-2010 | Mick Elliott

Not once all week at the AT&T National.

For only the fourth time (excluding major championships) in his PGA Tour career, Woods did not post a singe round under par during tournament week, finishing play Sunday at Aronimink Golf Club 4-over and way, way down the leaderboard.

Another tough weekend for pimp daddy. He almost missed the cut on Friday. Where are all his fan boys that still cling to him here? I know there are a few diehards left. He finished 14 strokes behind the winner Justin rose. Justin is on fire lately.

I used to be a big fan of Tiger, then the other guys on the tour started to ask "hey, what about us?"

Mike Golic from ESPN's "Mike and Mike" replied to the effect of "you want coverage, win something".

Then when Tiger started losing the media went "what's wrong with Tiger?" instead of covering the guys that DID win.

This was years ago and I've been a fan of Phil Mickelson ever since.

I wouldn't care if Eldrick never won again.

What I did not like is the hard core Tiger fan boys would constantly attack Phil. Case it point Doral 2009 on the 18 hole where Phil is battling good guy Nick Watney. A great battle.

The jerk Toger fan boys do the constant “go in the hole” crap. Well Phil tees off and some a*s yells go in the water. Endless other examples especially on golfwrx message board where some idiots constantly want to talk about only Tiger like Tiger is golf and will always be golf.

If Eldrick disappeared it would not make me upset. I used to just dislike his fan boys but after what he did to his wife - I do not like him.

“The dude needs to get laid....”

***

Actually, I think that was his problem — he was getting laid way too much. Killed his game.

This week was about the golf course. Aronimink is one of MANY incredible golf courses in the Philadelphia/Main Line area.

They were scheduled to host a PGA Championship about 10 years ago but it was found out that they didn’t have a woman member. They were ordered to go get one, or give up the hosting. They replied that they would have a woman member at some point in time, but it would be on THEIR terms. And they walked away from the PGA. I assume they have their woman member or the PGA Tour wouldn’t be visiting.

So many great clubs in that area. Merion (who will host the 2013 Open), The Cricket Club, Huntington Valley, Overbrook, Gulph Mills, on and on...

Same goes for Pittsburgh. Oakmont, Long Vue, Field Club, Laurel Valley, Rolling Rock, etc.

PA is blessed with an abundance of incredible golf courses and many of them are Ross and Tillinghast courses. May they live on forever.

Tiger and obama have a lot in common...a big, skyrocket beginning...and then a fizzle.

They just can't handle fame; like a lot of NBA stars, the fame goes to their head, and then they start to misbehave.

Amazing how celebrities make a mess of themselves, straighten themselves out, then come back as heroes. They aren’t heroes.

No. I do not have TV. I cancelled it about a year ago because all the networks including Fox Saudia support O.

I only saw the Masters over the net. I am not sure what I will do with The Open. Maybe camp out at a golf store with TV.

What happened? Justin Rose is in the groove.

Yes, but he faded last week. He scored an eagle for a five stroke lead, but Overton, Wii, and Moore got close in the closing holes, with Moore birdying 17 to finish at -9 as Rose came to 17 at -10. Rose managed to finish par-par with an easy two-putt at 18 for the win, and Moore won an appearance at The Open Championship by placing solo second.

BTW, Tiger has won The Open Championship 3 times: 2000, 2005, and 2006.

I have never been involved in golf in any way, shape, or form but don't ordinary local golfers sometimes break par?

I agree with you, I am so interested now that Tiger is not there. Justin won today and we got to see his wife and baby. Great stuff that we are now just seeing the great families behind all these players that were not spoken about while Tiger was #1.

"I have never been involved in golf in any way, shape, or form but don't ordinary local golfers sometimes break par?"

Even the best local amateurs wouldn't break 90 on that golf course the way they had it set up.

Donald Ross on steroids is what that golf course is, and we'll be seeing more of it in the coming years (both in the tour rotation and as a host for either a US Open or more likely a PGA Championship).
