Letter to Editor: Red, white, and blue — and a sea of white (Mass. moonbat)
Boston Globe ^ | 7/7/10 | Mary Lou Eshelman

(Boston Globe reader writes:) I WATCHED the Fourth of July Esplanade program and fireworks on TV. The last part of the program was broadcast across the United States, presumably as an example of what a true American celebration should look like. I searched in vain for more than a few faces in the crowd that weren’t Caucasian, and couldn’t imagine what people of color must have thought to see that huge group of white people. Even the representatives of the armed services and the Boston Pops itself were overwhelmingly white.

I’m not sure what the reason is behind this lack of participation of people of color in this event. I would suspect that they don’t feel welcome, and I would be interested to know why, and what can be done about that. At any rate, I was embarrassed for our city of Boston, which is trying hard to project an image of inclusion and to leave behind the racism of the past.

I’m surprised there are 425 black people in Newton. Have been through there many times over the decades, and it’s as white as Robert Byrd’s bed sheets.

Force them blacks to attend the show next year! That’s the only answer!

And the winner is:

"—I found Ms. Eshelman’s Facebook™ Page, and looked at her friends list. I searched in vain for more than a few faces in the list that weren’t Caucasian, and couldn’t imagine what people of color must have thought to see that huge group of white people..... I’m not sure what the reason is behind this lack of participation of people of color in her life. Liberals are SOOO obsessed with race. I’m a “person of color” (I hate that term!), and when I see people enjoying a 4th of July celebration, I see my fellow Americans. I don’t sit there and count how many non-white faces I see. It doesn’t even cross my mind to check.

Being a liberal must be a miserable existence!

“Earth to Mary Lou: Mass. is 83 per cent white..”

Public education has brainwashed blacks into believing that they are victims of this country not celebrants. It’s hardly surprising that they don’t show up to July 4th celebrations.

Not to forget to mention, like baseball, blacks don’t attend band concerts. Maybe if Jay Z, Beyonce or Kanye West came up with a pro America rap song?

In 2001, my husband and I went to the Northeast to visit friends. We planned to visit Boston for a few days. On the plane ride up I was reading the Fromers (or Zagat) Guide to Boston, and it warned African-Americans that they should not venture into South Boston. I was shocked. No travel guides for New Orleans would ever think to mention to whites what neighborhoods they should stay away from.

Just for everybody's info...I did a little searching and found that Mary Lou lives in Newton (a *very* rich,*very* white and *very* left wing suburb of Boston) in a house assessed at about $870K...which means that it could bring $900K easily. Also,my search suggests that she's some kind of social worker but I'm not sure.

Knowing Newton as well as I do my guess is that she's not living among many "people of color" and that she's not living the simple life you'd expect a "progressive" like her to lead.
