I was about to post words to that effect, but you've said all that needs saying. Except for stopping in Norwalk for a pie at Letizia's.
Pizzatown on rte 46 in Elmwood Park, NJ. Formerly East Paterson.
I literally had one of the best days of my life there. The owner of the little villa apartment we rented took us out on his boat to show us the islands around the main island of Hvar. A little boat, nothing special.
We drove around a bit, then we stopped at another island and spent some time on the beach, then we went to another island where his friend had a restaurant out of his summer home. We ate a four hour long meal of a lifetime. Everything was grown or handmade. Fresh fish caught that morning, fresh vegetables and herbs grown on the property and carafe after carafe of homemade wine from their vineyard. It was pure heaven.

People have been whacked over this.
Lombardis was nice but a tourist trap. I preffered Grimaldi’s Pizzeria, but its a trek. Totonnos was good at coney island, but I preffered Nathan’s hot Dogs.
Is Don Chin’s still a going concern and worth the drive out? It was mobbed when I frequented the area. The Palm was still in the Drake Hotel, so it’s been a few years.
I know of Don Roth's, which just closed within the last year.
There was Don Moy a chinese restaurant in the NW suburbs but thats been gone 10-15 years.
Never been there myself.

We always had our last dinner out at The Palm Restaurant at the Drake Hotel, when I was up for the RAC (Retail Advertising Conference). I’d understood that it moved to a different location. Fine place, and old.
My mistake on the name of the other place, it was Bob Chinn’s out in Wheeling.
Actually, John's on Bleecker St. is widely considered among (if not THE) very best.

I felt bad because the original author wanted NYC specific pizza... because I was going to suggest the best pizza EVER... Delorenzo's.
Thanks for the link... I can't believe they have a website... wow... I used to love the fact that going there (used to be) like going to a hidden gem that only those from the surrounding region know of (not going to say "locals").

There was a guy going around in a car to all the Ray’s pizza places years ago, telling them he owned the name Ray’s. He said you can keep the name of you store but you gotta pay. You can imagine the reaction.
What was the place Clemenza wanted to meet at when he was here during his foolish attempt to live in Seattle? It was closed, and we ended up at John’s on Bleecker Street. No slices. They made fun of me for wanting anchovies . . . I never forget things like that LOL.
