Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston reveal exclusively in the new Us Weekly that they are getting married.

And, they tell Us Weekly, former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has been kept in the dark about their plans ... until now.

"We got engaged two weeks ago," Bristol, 19, tells Us Weekly. "It felt right, even though we don’t have the approval of our parents."

Probably already has a book deal and secret recording devices, he’ll record any damaging conversations he can and it will be used against Sarah Palin. I’d run security sweeps anytime he was in my home! Sure is a cute baby.

If Bristol is in on the “slam Gov Palin” with Levi, then that’s a different story. I personally think that Bristol is a fool or being foolish to rush into this with Levi after such a short time of (alleged) repentance on his part.

" Bristol believes in redemption and forgiveness to a degree most of us struggle to put in practice in our daily lives.
"How charitable. I would have said "My daughter has **** for brains."

Read between the carefully worded lines- I think that is the implication. All that's missing is "Bless her heart"

I think you are right. I hope it works and I hope these young people will be allowed to make their mistakes and grow like normal people without being judged too harshly. God bless them.

It’s not the tackiness that’s troubling. It’s the lack of prudence. Using a celebrity mag to force your parents’ hand is just foolish, beyond tacky.

I do wish them well. I just wish they’d be wiser. They’re going to need all the help they can get and it would have been really, really, really good to go to their parents first, tell them what they are planning and ask their parents for advice and support. Cuz they’re going to need it.

And don’t say, “but she’s only 19.” She’s supposed to have learned from her initial mistakes and to have “grown up fast.”

This is not the action of a mature, grown up person. It really is not.

I wish them well. But they have not yet grown up. Ominous.

Of course SP knew all about it, she probably helped arrange it. When Levi publicly apologized to the Palins a little while ago, I was thinking that she was starting to get her ducks in a row for a ‘12 run. She had to get rid of the ‘wacky family’ tag. I’m thinking trust funds have been set up.

She’s an adult and can make whatever choices she wants to make in terms of marriage and dating, even if we think they are wrong. But doing this interview is a big mistake. Bristol Palin has given new life to Levi Johston’s desparate attempt to stay in the spotlight. And it gives credence to the Lib argument that its OK to rip her apart because she put herself in the spotlight. Putting aside her choice to get back together with Johnston, she is making a big mistake by putting herself in the spotlight, especially at her young age.

Sarah just released this statement. Read it very carefully. She and Todd have their doubts too.

"Bristol at 19 is now a young adult. As parents, we obviously want what is best for our children, but Bristol is ultimately in charge of determining what is best for her and her beautiful son. Bristol believes in redemption and forgiveness to a degree most of us struggle to put in practice in our daily lives.

We pray that, as a couple, Bristol and Levi’s relationship matures into one that will allow Tripp to grow up graced with two loving parents in his life.

Good grief...

what I admire about the Governor is that she never denied that her 17yro was pregnant, she never rebuked her or left her stranded...her attitude?...it is what it is....

she has more patience than a lot of us...

Levi is a piece of work, but like a lot of young men, hopefully he'll mature...

As it is, Bristol seems to once again be turning her back on her parents by hooking up with a proven loser .... so MOVE OUT AND GET A JOB

She moved out a long time go, renting an apartment and working at an Anchorage dentist's office.

I don’t think Sarah is that calculating. I think they are just a normal family who has ups and downs but are put in the media spotlight more than other people are. I’m sure Chelsea had her times but the media stays out of it. I’m sure the Obama kids are not perfect but you won’t hear of it. They started in on the Bush daughters, too, but from what I hear, Mama Bush put a stop to that. I seem to remember the Reagans daughter acting up pretty badly durring Reagans term. It just seems like SP’s family is held to a higher standard. The media hates her and are going to milk it for all its worth. Best thing we could do is shrug and say so what.

When you have 4 daughters, life is an ongoing soap opera under the best of circumstances. The Palins are good parents. Life is what it is.

Freeper Pharisees - who have never erred, especially in their youth - will be throwing stones again.

I will say this, if Levi gets his act together he can be formidable in deflecting the crap that will be flying Sarah's way if she decides to run. He can state over and over again how he lied about the Palins and was dead wrong. A changed man can be a powerful thing.
