CINCINNATI The Procter & Gamble Co. is aiming to make disposable diapers fashionable.
Popular designer Cynthia Rowley has designed 11 styles of Pampers, including pastels, stripes, madras and ruffles. P&G said Wednesday they'll be offered in Target Corp. stores beginning in mid-July.
Jodi Allen, a P&G baby care vice president, says in a statement that diaper performance comes first, but parents consider the look important, too.
Prettier diapers will be pricier. A pack of about two dozen of the toddler-size diapers will have a suggested retail price of $15.99, about $6 above plainer versions.
Pampers is the No. 1 worldwide brand in sales for the Cincinnati-based consumer products maker that also has Tide detergent, Crest toothpaste and other brands.

The battlefield will be littered with the corpses of Americas littlest citizens as some corporate giants arm themselves with the latest designer trends to woo image conscious parents to spend their money on fancy disposable "clothing" for their kids to poop in.
Ridiculous.
If there is a market for designer disposable diapers and somebody fills that market, what is the problem?
Seems a little silly to this bachelor, but if that’s how some parents want to spend their money, so be it.
Do we really need more perverts eyeing baby boys?
Seems like good marketing and the very best of CAPITALISM to me... so it can’t be all that bad.
Perhaps the economy has a ways yet to fall.
That, or this is just flat out one of the dumbest ideas ever conceived, especially given the timing. Fools.

They’re going for the upscale market. When times are bad, sell yachts. Only the rich can afford to buy things.
Do they have the thug style, you know the ones that hang off your butt? Kind of defeats the purpose of diapers but as long as we are keeping it real...
Not to mention, they make great baby shower gifts!
We just have gone nuts and have way too much disposable income.
That said my grandson will have the madras ones soon as I can find them.
We are all in the grip of insane consumerism!!
I see now that they come in black.
Blank Pampers.
Damn the economy!
Full speed ahead!
;^)
Old worn out diapers also made great dust rags. Disposable diapers came into being when my 5th child was born....they were used only when going on vacation.
You would have a hard time finding cloth diapers now. I wonder how much money it takes to buy enough diapers for a child from birth to toilet training....For some kids that at 3-4 years old....Now you even have throw away diapers for toilet training....
When starting out we sure couldn't afford disposals. But with baby showers you got enough cloth diapers to last for a couple of years...
Me too. Pampers were in for my second out of three children and my girls couldn’t wear them,,got rashes. In fact they were sensitive to diapers so I had to prereinse them, wash them, post rinse and hang in sun to dry.
I loved diapers,,I loved the smell and the feel and used them for dusters for years!
I think there is a move back to diapers according to my youngest who has her first. A bunch of her friends are using them.
I distrusted diaper services,,worried about germs!
I never used a diaper service, we couldn’t afford it. But cloth diapers beat paper ones any day of the week. You and I know that, but many young women don’t cause they haven’t been exposed to them..Cloth diapers take more work, but the savings in todays economy would be hugh...I loved line drying them and they would smell like fresh air and would be sun bleached also.
