A local rapper and a 35-year-old man are accused of beating a man to death because he accidentally scratched the rappers car.
Edward Brown and Steven Fox, 26, a rapper known as Sincere the Realist, sent the 46-year-old victim into coma and eventually his death, according to prosecutors and police reports.
Brown is a family friend of Larry Brown, who died on July 7 from the injuries related to attack, according to court testimony.
It was Foxs car that Larry Brown caused minor damage to when he was returning home in the early morning hours of June 17, assistant states attorney Yolanda Lippert said.
Larry Brown didnt even realize he scratched Foxs car when he drove by the two men sitting in the car in a nearby alley. So he continued to park in front of his home, in the 600 block of North Spaulding, Lippert said.
The other two men, who followed Larry Brown, started yelling at him before striking his head and body with their fists, Lippert said.
Larry Browns sleeping parents were roused by the commotion, and his father ran outside, begging the men to stop, Lippert said.
But they continued, justifying their actions by showing the older man the scratch on Foxs car, Lippert said.
Larry Brown eventually lost consciousness on the sidewalk, and Fox and Edward Brown fled the scene, Lippert said.
Larry Brown was taken to a hospital where he fell into a coma and died. He suffered blunt head trauma, according to an autopsy by the Cook County Medical Examiners Office.
Defense attorney E. Powell Dunham argued that the men walked Larry Brown home to his parents and that he had no injuries at the time. He also said Larry Browns father agreed his son was wrong to nick Foxs car and asked the men to give him an estimate of the damage.
Judge James Brown ordered Edward Brown held in lieu of $1 million bail. Fox was ordered held in lieu of $750,000 bail.
Edward Brown, of the 16000 block of South Komensky Avenue, is currently on parole for a 2008 drug conviction. He has five additional felony drug convictions.
Fox, of Glendale Heights, is a rapper straight from the West Side of Chicago, according to his MySpace page. He is also the CEO of GMB Records, the label which released his CDs The Realist Behind Bars and The Realist In The Game.
Being from the streets allows him to relate to anyone and every hood, Foxs MySpace page says.
His music represents his life, Dealing with life's issues himself makes it easier for him to make music that people can relate to and understand the hustle. Seen through his eyes and heard through your ears, this is his story.
Some of Foxs tracks include songs with the titles, Last Man Standing, Im a Boss, Ghetto Superstar and Hold U Down.
“She writes exceptionally poorly.”
Good thing she has auto-spellcheck. Otherwise, it’d be far worse.
Dunham? One of barry al-hussein's people?
If you'll simply carefully read it, two or three times, and insinuate what she might be trying to express, it's as clear as a bell.
A GREAT argument for carrying a piece everywhere you go (I know, it’s Chicago).
Your kitten is observing you till it gets big enough to eat you.
The perp made his lack of humanity into an art form.
