Lindsay (Lohan) a meth addict, bipolar: report
TMZ.com ^ | 08/01/2010 | Staff

Hard-partying "Mean Girls" star Lindsay Lohan will be treated for methamphetamine addiction and a mental disorder that causes wild mood swings when she goes into rehab, the gossip website TMZ.com reported today.

Lohan, 24, will be treated for meth addiction and bipolar disorder during her 90 days of court-ordered rehab following her release from jail this week -- which could happen as soon as today, her lawyer said.

The site also quoted a person familiar with the case as saying methamphetamine -- a highly-addictive stimulant also known as crystal meth -- and opiates are Lohan's "drugs of choice." Opiates are a derivative of opium and are generally downers.

I had no idea it was that addictive. I know a clinical psychologist who says she has extremely good success rates using medical hypnosis to cure alcohol, cigarette, and drug addiction. With one exception. Meth. The hypnotic technique she uses gives the addict the sub-conscious belief that to imbibe their drug of choice (nicotine, cocaine, vodka) is actually the consumption of poison or some repulsive substance (human waste for example) that they simply could not put in their mouth or veins etc. But there usually is no substance horrible, repulsive enough to stop a meth addict from taking it. Even if they believe it is manure or arsenic, they will usually take it.

The bad teeth part is missing from her. I work with a lady who I know has some kind of problem other than being a tramp.

I had my son’s second grade teacher try to convince me that my son had ADHD and needed to be on Adderall or Ritalin, and she named those two specifically. The reason: after she assigned the math homework, he was very fidgety and talkative and disruptive. Turns out, it was because he was getting the math assignments done in under 5 minutes and she expected this 8 year old normal boy to sit quietly at his seat for 20 minutes with nothing to do. I pinned her ears back on that one lickety-split.

Maybe I'll meet a kind, considerate, attractive meth addict and marry her someday.

Self-discipline, being one of those traits that is rare amongst humanity, is unlikely to be released by a meth addiction.

That being said, I'd hit it.

Before your engagement, of course.

Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

Bi-Polar seems to be more common in girls.

One of my two son's is BiPolar. There is no cure, but it can be effectively managed with therapy and the right medications.

Good for you.

Too bad Lindsay’s parents are both as crazy as she is, if not worse.

Well the meth explains why she now looks 15 years older than she did a year ago.

Methamphetamine and Adderall are similar but not chemically the same. Adderall is a dextroamphetamine salt combo. The article mentions “crystal” meth. If she’s addicted to methamphetamines, it’s not in the form of the prescription drug Adderall.

The person who leaked the information may have inadvertantly said “methamphetamine” instead of “amphethamine” and from there the author drew a conclusion of “crystal meth.”

I’ve heard her father say that she’s addicted to prescription drugs. If that’s true, it’s amphethamines and not methampethamines - unless she’s cooking crystal meth from her Adderall prescription, which I doubt because meth labs smell really, really bad and she’d have been caught by now.

'The bad teeth part is missing from her. "

Bad teeth are the net effect of smoking the meth, not the meth itself.

"I work with a lady who I know has some kind of problem other than being a tramp."

The mental illness that predisposed her to the meth abuse, is probably responsible for the "trampiness" as well.

"Methamphetamine and Adderall are similar but not chemically the same."

Yes, another poster pointed that out. They differ pharmacologically (although there is some similarity), but have very similar physiological and pscho-physiological effects.

When I read it, I knew that they weren't talking about smoking crystal meth, but clearly many people thought - understandably - that is what the report was alleging. I wish I would have made the distinction in my original post so not to mislead people. Hate to give the Lindsder more problems than she actually has.

The article actually says “crystal meth” which is what confused me. I think crystal meth must be smoked or injected. Her teeth would be rotten or she’d have track marks up and down her arms.

Also methamphethamine is illegal, I believe. Amphethamines are controlled but legal. The reference in the article is what is confusing rather than your comment about the similar nature of the chemicals.

Nothing mysterious about the high incidence of bi-polar phenomena in the Hollywood community.

One day stars are worshipped as gods...the next they encounter weakness in themselves and realize they are just human. Very few WOULDN'T experience mood swings.

In fact, a society ruled by secular humanism will, of course, be a society where bi-polarism is everywhere. Society teaches we are all-powerful, but our nature tells us we are not.

Atheist Russia had all kinds of "mental institutions". As socialism creeps forward in the US, we have our share of mind drugs and treatments as well.
