PHOENIX — The Obama administration is sending home more illegal immigrants than before, undermining blasts by Republicans, including Gov. Jan Brewer, that it is failing in its duty to deal with the problem.
New statistics were put together by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University. The numbers show more illegal immigrants were removed from the U.S. in the first nine months of this fiscal year than during the same period in 2008. That is when GOP President George W. Bush controlled Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
In fact, the number of those ejected from the country between Oct. 1, 2009, and June 30 of this year is nearly twice as much as it was in the same period ending June 30, 2005.
The report also shows the Obama administration is devoting more of its resources to removing those who have committed serious crimes.
During the first nine months of the fiscal year, TRAC, using Immigration and Customs Enforcement data, figures that 136,714 “criminal aliens’’ were deported. That same figure in 2008 was 85,334.
That was counterbalanced by a decrease in removals of noncriminal aliens. The figure for the first nine months of this fiscal year is 142,321, compared to 169,429 at the same time in 2008.

I'd give W a score of 20 out of a 100 in the Southern Border control. If Zer0 has done more than W (maybe a better metric would be how many have been allowed in, not how many have been sent back), then I'd give him a score of 22 out of 100.

Let’s see crime went down when we locked up more criminals. It could be that there are more illegals breaking the law and that states have done more to step up enforcement. Not ready to pat BO on the back on this one.

What this seems to mean is that they are not removing people they can't prove are criminals, and it may also mean that border crossings by criminals are on the rise. It doesn't necesasarily mean they are doing a better job.

Yes, better than Bush is not saying much. This was Bush’s weakest point by far. So, if the big O is doing better than Bush I’ll say good, but try and do even more big O. Seal the border, stop the visa overstayers. Thank you!
