He lost badly when he came up for re-election.

Wow I have seen some ignorance but you sir take the cake. Peter Fitzgerald never ran for re-election, he retired.

Then you said Quinn was up by 13% when the poll clearly states that Republican Billy Brady is up by 13%.

If you are too ignorant to look up facts before spouting off, perhaps you are on the wrong website.

"On being elected, he became a waterboy for the Left. You might call him the Scott Brown of the ‘90s."

I don't know who you are talking about, but it sure as hell isn't Peter Fitzgerald. He was the best Senator Illinois has had since Everett Dirksen. An enemy of the corrupt Combine.

Like I said Kirk will win, if the poll shows him tied now he probably has a lead. I think the democrats are going to stay home this year since the democratic base has no reason to go out and vote. Alexi isn't an exciting politician for the rats.

We can bitch and moan all we want but Diablo is going to win. There just aren't enough FReepers in Illinois, and unfortunately there are a lot of ignorant voters who have no idea who the candidates are.

I'm sure if you did a Jaywalking segment asking people who was running for the Senate they would probably say Rod Blagojavech, and umm, I dunno.

What I am FURIOUS about, not the fact that Kirk is a communist, we know that, but why hasn't ANYONE talked about the shootings that take place daily.

I was driving to the White Sox game yesterday and came up on the Dan Ryan. The democratic "base" were outside with their liquor in the brown paper bag, stumbling all over the place.

I think Chicago has more murders than Juarez Mexico and no one is talking about it. And Daley tries to ban guns and shootings go up.

The national guard needs to go in the south side and west side and do a mop up job, but we all know that will never happen.

I’m thinking he will lose, presuming neither is replaced on the ticket. If the murder rate were the same in Chicago as it is in Ciudad Juarez, that would be enough to topple Boss Daley. NYC in the early ‘90s had roughly the same numbers of murders as CJ (numbers, but not as a percentage of the population) and that’s what toppled David Dinkins.

What percentage will Kirk receive? What percentage will Gianoulias receive? I think that Alexi will get 58%. Mark will get 27%. The other parties will get the other 15%.

Chicago is not safe. The other day 16 shootings, in a "gun free city". The only people with guns are the gang bangers. Usually, I don't care too much what happens in the city but the filth has been flooding into the suburbs.

The illegal aliens took over Aurora and are now moving into Naperville. And crime goes up!

The crypts and the bloods well they are a stones throw away from me in Crestwood and Robbins.

I should video tape a drive to the White Sox game and you can see how ghetto the south suburbs and south part of the city is.

I almost hit 3 people drinking out of their brown paper bags, stumbling in the middle of the street.

It is getting to the point where anywhere in the city is unsafe, you got thug panhandlers harassing people even on Michigan Avenue now. Same guy harassed us on two different occasions I told him I would call the police and he quickly left. He just needed his crack fix.

But God forbid we say anything about the panhandlers because they are all of the same race, and it would be "racist" for me to mention that.

The police should be armed with semi automatics and have orders to shoot on site the gang bangers. Then you would have a crime free city overnight.

I think it’s possible the winner will get in the mid to high 40s range (Blago got 49.8% in ‘06). If Alexi wins, it certainly won’t be higher than 51%. If we had a credible non-Combiner Republican running, they’d have a lead identical (or higher) to Brady’s over Quinn (such as Peter Roskam or John Shimkus).

I honestly think it will be Kirk 48% Alexi 44% Third party 8%. The country club Republicans are going out and voting in droves for Bill Brady because they know that Pat Quinn's campaign is based on raising taxes and ruining jobs.

We have FReepers from Illinois who have no idea that Kirk is a communist illegal panderer. If it weren't for Billy and Fieldmarshaldj I wouldn't know this

I don't see the AARP crowd voting for Alexi, they are going to automatically assume that Kirk is a Republican so he is for lower taxes, when he was what, one of 8 to vote for cap and tax?

From what I've heard from the folks I used to work with when I ran Judy Biggert's campaign, Kirk has a gigantic war chest and his campaign is basically going to be a negative bombardment on Alexi. They will be running Rezko, Blago, Broadview Bank, ect...

Why?

What is Kirk going to say? I'm pro abortion, pro gay, pro illegal, anti gun, ect... He has NO PLATFORM it will be non stop attack ads, exactly what Quinn is trying to do to Brady. But it looks like the Quinn ads are hurting Quinn so maybe it will backfire for Kirk.

I wish I could record the phone everytime a Mark Kirk person calls begging for money. I have no idea how I get on their lists, I had a Newt Gingrich person call, and I politely stated, "I will never give a nickel to someone who made a commercial with Nancy Pelosi" (global warming ad). And told them never to call me again.

I tell the Kirk people that I wouldn't vote for Joseph Stalin so I won't vote for Kirk.

Back to Kirk winning he is going to win on Brady's coattails. Obama had huge coattails and that's why the dems run the congress like an iron fist, I think it will be voter revolt. And unfortunately, we are stuck with Diablo for 6 years.

Yeah, I was updating some figures for IL cities several days ago and I noticed Aurora was near the tipping point of Hispanics being the plurality (since the figures aren’t from this year, it’s probably already occurred — officially just Waukegan, Cicero and Berwyn have (for those at or over 50k people)). I remember having “discussions” with my former fiancee about moving (in my case, returning to in hers) to Chicago, and my not wanting to. I didn’t feel safe at the prospect of doing so (in her neighborhood, some thugs broke into the house of her aunt and cousin and they were sexually assaulted). Of course, things have since gone downhill in my area of Nashville, a Central American illegal tried to murder a cop (well, two of them) across the street from my house, and other assorted horrors ranging from drunk driving to rape and murder (and yet we get browbeaten by the leftist media elites for not being tolerant of these criminals — sickening). It’s appalling to think I don’t feel safe to even take a walk in my neighborhood (at least without a gun).

I wouldn't so certain. The polls actually show Alexi with a 2-point lead at this point, a stastical dead heat. That speaks volumes for what a pi$$ poor candidate Kirk is, IMO. Alexi is undoubtedly the most blantantly crook RAT running for Senate this year. If ANY halfway decent Republican was on the ballot against Alexi, they'd probably be ahead by double-digits. Brady is polling those kinds of numbers against the incompetent Quinn, and Quinn isn't nearly as sleazy as Alexi.

The media (especially the most vocally pro-Obama media sources, not the Kirk fan club notices anything strange about that) are all in the tank for Kirk and they're predicting he'll win because Kirk has all the advantages when you factor in "other things" besides the poll numbers, like the obscene amount of money Kirk has raised compared to Alexi. And the fact the media itself will all endorse Kirk and promote him this fall will work to his advantage.

But I wouldn't say Kirk's victory is set in stone yet. Voters may not be aware of Kirk's horrible record in the House, but they ARE aware that the man is a pathelogical liar. The Chicago media was forced to report on this stuff after the national media exposed the real Kirk. Voters don't trust Kirk as far as they can throw him now. Any advantage he had over Alexi due to Alexi's seedy nature has now evaporated and voters (rightfully) see BOTH of the "major" party candidates as manipulative scumbags.

That's why the Green Party loon is polling 14% now with no money and no name recongition. He's not Alexi or Marky (same situation with the Greenie who polled double digit numbers next to Judy Barr & Blago in '06). Both parties slate horrible unfit candidates, and the Greens just benefit by default because they're the only alternative on the ballot. Despite being a socialist, LeAnn Jones even stands to pick up a big chuck of disgruntled Republicans and right-leaning independents, and those are precisely the kind of votes Kirk NEEDS to win Illinois. Even with big GOP turnout, there aren't enough hardcore card-carrying Republicans in the Chicago area to put Kirk over the top.

If Stufflebeam and Labro get on the ballot, they're also wildcards.

I believe the race is a toss-up at this point. But you're right, Brady on the top of the ticket winning big will have the unfortunate side-effect of getting Kirk more votes lower down on the ticket.

>> but why hasn't ANYONE talked about the shootings that take place daily.I was driving to the White Sox game yesterday and came up on the Dan Ryan. You've got a good point. The liberal media and left-wing bloggers just LOVED to post all the death totals in Iraq every week to crusify Bush and claim he was a incompetant failure. But when more Americans are killed every week in Daley's Chicago than in Iraq, there's absolute silence from them. Total hypocrisy, seeing how the left constantly whined about the needless death of innocents. And since Chicago had a total fascist ban on ANY type of guns, they certainly can't claim they're weren't enough gun control laws. Another example of total epic fail from one-party RAT rule. Of course the liberal acamdemia gladly placed Bush at bottom of the barrel of U.S. Presidents (citing his "failures" in Iraq, even AFTER Bush turned it around and made it a success). But Mayor Daley is still a "model mayor". And Lisa Madigan is some kind of rising star and corrupt fighter when Illinois is the most crooked state in the union under her watch. Disgusting.

AMEN to your post #29. I had almost talked myself into holding my nose and pulling the lever for Kirk, esp if him winning might give the Repubs the majority, but then he came out recently and made some idiotic statement (I think it was that that he would’ve voted to confirm Kagan) and honestly that was the last straw. Count me in for Stufflebeam.

The post about Quinn being up by 13 was flagged as sarcastic.

In looking up Fitzgerald’s record, however, I will acknowledge it was quite a bit better than I remember it. He voted with the liberals on a few key issues, but I’ll acknowledge it was unfair to call him a waterboy for liberals.

I see that he did not lose re-election; he did not run again, stating that it would be impossible to win.

Fortunately, I don’t think the coattails will extend to Kirk. Besides Stufflebeam, the Greens will have LeAlan Jones, so he will probably get some disgruntled anti-Combiner leftists (and hard for it is for some to believe, there is such a thing, Governor Dan Walker was one). As the ‘06 race turned out, Blago got 49.8%, Topinka got 39%, Rich Whitney (the Green) got an astonishing 10%, and Stufflebeam as a write-in got a half of one percent. With him on the ballot, I think this time he could possibly reach double-digits.

Anyway, just as a reminder, back in 1984 when Reagan was running for reelection, Sen. Chuck Percy lost for a 4th term (50-48%). Had we put up a decent Conservative (and Kirk, for the record, now makes Percy look like Jesse Helms), we’d have not lost that seat to Paul Simon (who in some instances ran to the right of Percy, and who got a number of Reagan Republican voters who were fed up with Percy). I’m actually more concerned Kirk will be a drag on Brady. If I were Brady, I’d kick Kirk to the curb and tell him he’s on his own. Brady might very well end up with close to 60% of the vote, but Kirk may be lucky to do more than Topinka’s 39%. Some major league vote-splitting may happen here. A damn shame. Kirk should be booted from the ticket, especially as long as he continues to trail.

The more Brady distances himself from Kirk, Judy Hag Topinka and the other loser RINOs the better.

I think you are 110% right about Brady getting up to 60%. I haven't seen one sign for the bum in Crook County. When Blago ran you would see his signs everywhere even in early August.

Looking back at the primary I am thrilled Dan Hynes lost. He would have easily beaten Brady I think. Jesse Jackson is going to have to work overtime to get that loser Quinn elected, hopefully Obama stumps for him so he can add another failure.

Alexi can’t get as high as 58%. Not in his wettest dreams.

I’d bet that each will get 40 something % with Alexi edging out the victory.

>> The more Brady distances himself from Kirk, Judy Hag Topinka and the other loser RINOs the better. <<

Kirk's already done a pretty good job of that himself. I haven't seen him within 100 miles of a Brady campaign event. During the GOP "unity day" event shortly after the primary -- EVERY statewide Republican nominee (as well as the losing primary candidates) appeared at the rally for the Brady/Plummer ticket, with the exception of Mark Kirk and Topinka (no conicindence there). Brady is happy to march alongside the tea party groups in parades, Kirk runs for cover because he'll get booed by them.

Topinka's car was behind Brady's float at the Evergreen Park Independence Parade, the two camps did not mingle. (Topinka did talk to me, as I was marching for a State Rep. candidate and she was unaware that I hated her guts).

After this latest outrage where Kirk badmouthed Brady AND Plummer to a reporter and said Brady should "find a way to pay more taxes" (and that Plummer is a coward for not releasing his tax returns), I think it's safe to say there will be no honeymoon. This came AFTER Brady was nice enough to defend Kirk's millitary lying and say we should give him "the benefit of the doubt" that Kirk simply remembered it wrong. Brady hasn't discussed the RINO since then. Kirk just can't seem to help himself. You'd think he'd want to be pictured next to "popular" Republicans but the man just seems to go out of his way to trash conservative candidates.

I'm not going to predict the outcome of the U.S. Senate in November -- too many factors in play until then -- but IF the election was held today, I think the numbers would look something like this:

Alexi (RAT) - 45%
Kirk (DIABLO) - 43%
Jones (GREEN) - 12%

I wish the old hag Judy Baar would just go away. I'm sick of the pound of make up and the nagging voice.

Whoever is running Mark Kirk's campaign is retarded. This guy consistently puts his foot in his mouth on a daily basis and it's more fodder for us.

I am now hoping Blago gets found not guilty so he can go after the democrats, I think Blago is our biggest asset to throw the combiners out.

Madigan is the combine leader in my opinion and Blago hates him now.
