TORONTO,- The owner of a concession stand at the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto said deep-fried butter will be making its debut at this year's event.
Vicky Skinkle, who runs the Sweet Treats concession stand at the exhibition, said deep-fried butter will go on sale for the first time in the history of the event Friday, The (Toronto) Star reported Thursday.
Skinkle said the bite-sized balls, which are topped with raspberry, chocolate, caramel or vanilla, cost $5 for four.
"Honestly, I like them -- but that's me, right?" Skinkle said. "I had my whole neighborhood in Brantford come and try them, and they loved them."
Abel Gonzales Jr. of Texas won a trophy for most creative item when he introduced deep-fried butter to the Texas State Fair in September 2009.
On a related note, Dennis Prager is talking to a heart doctor right now.
Here’s my local link if anyone is interested in listening to the last half hour:
Pretenders...I don’t see Krispy Kreme Bacon Cheeseburgers on the menu...
The cinnamon crisps look good, wonder what’s in a “bunuelos”?
(Too lazy to google - lol)
A friend of ours was going to run a deep fried bacon stand at the MN state fair but his bank told him they wouldn’t finance his businesses any more unless he gave it up - too much of a health risk for him.
True story.
Um....yuck
OMG those look good! Is that a glazed donut, bacon chesseburger?
Replace the doughnuts (bagels?) with two pork chops and you’ve really got something there.
That food item reminds me of the old saying “That’s a heart attack waiting to happen”...
I know what I’m having for my Ramadan dinner.
YUM! Yes, please!
I believe Diana in Wisconsin said they were selling these at her state’s fair this year...
I like my butter in a glass.
Wonder what you can get as a “Muslim Baby Shop” you can’t get at the mall?
