I don’t know. Do these qualify as “albums”?

BE WHAT YOU WANT TO - LINK WRAY SINGS AND PLAYS GUITAR
BEANS AND FATBACK LIVE AT THE PARADISO
BULLSHOT LIVE IN ‘85
COUNTRY JUBILEE OF STARS MORDICAI JONES
DAVE DUDLEY with special guests LINK WRAY AND THE WRAYMEN - LINK WRAY AND THE WRAYMEN
GREAT GUITAR HITS OF LINK WRAY AND THE RAYMEN ROCK AND ROLL RUMBLE
GOOD ROCKIN’ TONIGHT RUMBLE RECORDS VOL. 1
GROWLING GUITAR RUMBLE RECORDS VOL. 2
GUITAR MENTOR - STUCK IN GEAR
JACK THE RIPPER - SWAN THE LINK WRAY RUMBLE
JACK THE RIPPER - HANGMAN THE RUMBLE MAN
LINK WRAY THERE’S GOOD ROCKIN’ TONIGHT
LINK WRAY - THE EARLY RECORDINGS YESTERDAY - TODAY

I’ll bet you most of those “guitar heroes” have at least one of those in their record collections. And they’re probably about worn down to a nub.

Yeah, if you let people vote on the "50 Best Rock Guitarists" and "50 Most Overrated Guitarists" you would probably get 90% of the same people on each list.

Absolutely

For the record I own a ‘71 Gibson LesPaul Custom Sunburst, with mother of pearl inlays - possibly the greatest electric guitar make and model on the planet.

A good friend owned a '70 Gibson LesPaul Gold Top. I borrowed it a few times. That was one sweet axe!

Dude. It’s Post Number 64 before someone mentions JOE SATRIANI, STEVE VAI, or YNGWIE MALSTEEN?

I would guess they gathered the singles more than anything else. I mean the guy had around 12 songs released as singles before his first album. It was just a different time, from what most on this list seem to be. In comparison, a huge disciple of his, Jimmy Page, wasn’t all that big on releasing singles period. That is why it took so long to get Zeppelin on iTunes. He thought the albums should only be sold as a whole.

I’m not saying that Link Wray isn’t hugely influential. Just that I can see the reasoning behind him not having an album on the list.

Any list of top guitar albums that doesn’t have Les Paul and Chet Atkins somewhere on it is BOGUS

I think it’s a pretty good list...for rock music....but i will comment that none of the guitarist on any of those albums could even attempt to play like Lenny Breau or Danny Gatton.

No Moby Grape? Wow.

How about Steely Dan’s “Countdown to Ecstasy”...Skunk Baxter and Denny Dias at their best.

Or Sonic Youth’s “Daydream Nation”.

Funkadelic’s “Maggot Brain”?

Nice to see Television in there.

Zappa and the Mothers’ “Burnt Weeny Sandwich” seems to be missing.

No Free on the list?

If The Sex Pistols made it VU certainly deserved a place.

Gibson’s list stinks.

Any guitar list without Leo Kottke isn't a real list. Not all good guitar is amplified pyrotechnics.

I see Deep Purple’s ‘Machine Head’ on the list...heard a Blackmore interview where he stated that the riff from ‘Smoke on the Water’ was inspired by playing Beethoven’s Ninth backward...
