In Germany, a country which has far fewer accidents per 100,000 than the USA, the speed is unlimited for large parts of their autobahn. No matter how fast you are going you must get over when a car comes up behind you in the left lane, if you are doing 190 and a car comes up behind you, you had better move over or risk losing your license. I feel it should be the same way here.
If the move over law was enforced we would have fewer accidents and holier than thou people who think everyone should drive at their speed would either get the F*** out of the way or they would lose their license.
Have fun in Germany.
You are absolutely correct and there are stats to back it up here in the US. If you are going 5 miles an hour slower than the mean speed of traffic you odds of dying are high, but knock it up to 10 miles an hour slower it’s like drunk driving dangerous. This means if you have backed everyone up behind you no matter what the reason, your odds of dying are very high.
To be fair, Germany probably has less drivers who are d***heads and egocentric than the US.
I was stationed there in the ‘80s and was amazed at how fast folks would go.
I have actually felt safer in Germany driving at 220 km/h than driving here in the States. Drivers there know what the heck they are doing, plus there is driving courtesy there as well.

Some of the worst Autobahn accidents have been between the car doing 190 and the idiot who didn’t live in the rear view mirror while in the left lane doing 100 kph. In Deutchland, you had better pay way more attention than you might in the USA.
Back when people were polite, slow drivers would pull over for faster vehicles.
