My pastor challenged me to prove Obama is allowing federal funding for abortions. Recall he signed an executive order not allowing such. I told him this has been violated. Please post some links proving him wrong. Thanks

http://wizbangblog.com/content/2010/07/14/federally-funded-abortions-brought-to-you-by-bart-stupak.php
The Obama administration has officially approved the first instance of taxpayer funded abortions under the new national government-run health care program. This is the kind of abortion funding the pro-life movement warned about when Congress considered the bill.

The Obama Administration will give Pennsylvania $160 million to set up a new “high-risk” insurance program under a provision of the federal health care legislation enacted in March.

It has quietly approved a plan submitted by an appointee of pro-abortion Governor Edward Rendell under which the new program will cover any abortion that is legal in Pennsylvania.

The high-risk pool program is one of the new programs created by the sweeping health care legislation, Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, President Obama signed into law on March 23. The law authorizes $5 billion in federal funds for the program, which will cover as many as 400,000 people when it is implemented nationwide.

“The Obama Administration will give Pennsylvania $160 million in federal tax funds, which we’ve discovered will pay for insurance plans that cover any legal abortion,” said Douglas Johnson, legislative director for the National Right to Life Committee.

Johnson told LifeNews.com: “This is just the first proof of the phoniness of President Obama’s assurances that federal funds would not subsidize abortion — but it will not be the last.”

Ditto.

And I would look for a new MIL if I didn’t love my husband so much, but luckily she lives 1400 miles away :)

It's time to change churches.

Nothing about Obama is Christian.

A pastor should KNOW what Obama is about.

This church seems to be mistaking humanism for Christianity. Move on!

I would think that Obama’s record in Illinois and the Senate would be sufficient. Does he need to see a receipt?

I too think you ought to find a new church. One of Obama’s first legislative achievements was to include a provision, within the 2009-2010 military budget, prosecuting pastors who preach hatred. Let’s say your pastor preaches on Romans 1st chapter which denounces homosexuality. Someone happens to walk in your church during the sermon and hears the message. Then he/she commits a crime against someone who happens to be a homosexual. Not only is the bad guy prosecuted but your preacher can be as well. No fooling. Obama got the help from Pelosi and Reed for this verbiage. This is the first time any president signed such a provision. I would ask your preacher is he is aware of this provision in the military budget and the fact that he voted for someone who is willing to send him to jail.

I may have made a mistake when posting because the person asking for help did not say the pastor was pro Obama.

He may have been asking for proof that Obama said that.

I did not catch that in their post. Maybe the original poster could fill us in where the pastor was going with the question. He could be one of those lib nutty pastors.

Obama is the most radically pro-abortion President in US history. Despite his flowery presidential words, all of his presidential actions serve to radically increase abortions in America...........and around the world.

CASES IN POINT A federal probe was requested by three high ranking lawmakers with congressional oversight responsibilities into whether the Obama Administration broke federal laws by promoting a proposed constitution that radically changes abortion policy in Kenya.

Empowered by Obama, the ACLU Demands NY Investigate Catholic Hospitals Refusing “Life-saving” Abortions........

Obama DOJ nominee Dawn Johnsen saw a great danger to liberty in laws enacted to protect babies in the womb...... it was OK to make such laws to protect the interests of the woman carrying unborn child -- or to protect whatever interest the baby may have retroactively in its fetal existence if it is ever born alive -- but it was not OK to make such laws in the interest of the unborn child itself.

What Obama and Michelle Believe re: Aborted Babies Born Alive
FR POSTED http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2253212/posts?page=6

In February 2004, US Senate candidate Barack Obama's wife, Michelle, sent a fund-raising letter with the "alarming news" that "right-wing politicians" had passed a law (prohibiting doctors from stabbing half-born babies in the neck with scissors, suctioning out their brains and crushing their skulls).

Michelle Obama called partial-birth abortion "a legitimate medical procedure. " She urged supporters to pay $150 to attend a fund-raising luncheon for her husband, who she promised would fight against "cynical ploy[s]" to stop it.

BACKGROUND Legislation was presented on the federal level and in various states called the Born Alive Infants Protection Act. It stated all live-born babies were guaranteed the same constitutional right to equal protection, whether or not they were wanted. BAIPA sailed through the U.S. Senate by unanimous vote. Even Sens. Clinton, Kennedy and Kerry agreed a mother's right to "choose" stopped at her baby's delivery. The bill also passed overwhelmingly in the House. NARAL went neutral on it. Abortion enthusiasts publicly agreed that fighting BAIPA would appear extreme. President Bush signed BAIPA into law in 2002.

But in Illinois, the state version of BAIPA repeatedly failed, thanks in large part to then-state Sen. Barack Obama. Obama worried aloud that legislation protecting live aborted babies might infringe on women's rights or abortionists' rights.

In 2003, as chairman of the next Senate committee to which BAIPA was sent, Obama stopped it from even getting a hearing, shelving it to die much like babies were still being shelved to die in Illinois hospitals and abortion clinics.

BAIPA passed in 2005.........after Obama left the Illinois Senate.

I would hand him the articles mentioned on this thread, and then go hunting for a new parish.

...but show them to him first he needs to get the truth even if he doesn't want to believe it.

I like using liberal sources when talking to liberals - harder for them to dismiss. here is the NY TImes story Obama ending the ban on foreign aid for abortion: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/23/world/americas/23iht-ban23.19639909.html
