I recognize that people who want a mean dog pick out this breed. 30 years ago nobody heard of pit bulls but dobermans were going psycho on their owners left and right. Media hype propagated the myth.
I own a pit-boxer mix. He is a rescue and an abused dog, but he is a very happy animal. he will aggressively play with a 10 pond dog and never harm the animal. I believe that sentient beings (dogs and humans) are more nurture than nature. Raise a pit bull and a human to be mean and you will have better success with the dog. Raise a pitbull and a human in a good environment and you will still have better luck with the pit bull. We humans are way more unpredictable than dogs.
My neighbor had a pit bull, that was clearly vicious. This dog roamed the neighbor hood, at will, terrorizing other people and dogs. We have no animal control, nor any means of addressing this problem, but if you’ll note, all of my references in this article of the pit bull are in the past tense.
Somebody with an unnatural obsession with pit bulls is beginning to appear somewhat disturbed.
