Answer Man: Vin Scully talks candy, Dodgers and 'Bewitched'
MLB : Big League Stew - Yahoo! Sports ^ | September 16, 2010 | David Brown

Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully likes to talk, just not necessarily about himself.

So it was with great gratitude on my part that he sat down for an Answer Man session inside his booth at PETCO Park in San Diego before a recent Los Angeles Dodgers game. Scully, who has been calling Dodgers action for 61 seasons, recently announced his intentions to make it 62  — to the delight of fans of his team and those who simply enjoy Vin calling games.

What is Scully like in person? If you've watched a Dodgers game — or any of the countless national events in Scully's storied career — he's a lot like he is on the air: Warm, friendly and full of great stories — a few of which he’s about to share with you.

I subscribe to MLB.com and, while I am not necessarily a Dodgers fan (I live in Seattle, alas) I make it a point to watch the Dodgers games simply because I love listening to Vin Scully as he calls the games.

It's hard to describe it; it's like going to a ball game with my grandpa. He has a very warm, friendly, and welcoming presence.

I am so glad I'll be able to hear him next year!

Thanks for sharing that! It brings back fond memories of hearing Vin Scully broadcasting on the radio, when we lived in Santa Monica.

Vince is just a super nice guy, that does his job really well, without pretending to be a celebrity... He's a natural at what he does.

A very rare thing today....

Baseball is great..Easy to watch ...One minute it's boring...Another bases are loaded, and it's a grand slam...
