....but he is restless and can’t get comfortable in one place for very long. He can’t sleep in the bed. He goes from the couch to his recliner during the night. His head is a little fuzzy and his energy level is down, ...

This sounds like me under the Obama regime.

I think the Toshiba thing was about submarine propeller machining technology wasn't it?

And if we are going to play that game, then BMW made all the engines for Messerschmitts and Mitsubishi made the Zero, so maybe we shouldn't be buying their stuff either. ;-))

The Toshiba is a solid laptop, very rugged, will last for years, not the fastest or best video/audio but it is reliable. I bought an HP laptop in April and besides the fragile keyboard, it is perfect for what I need -- and the video is spectacular...;-))

I gotta disagree with Bit about HP laptops. I’ve bought two and within a year the motherboard died and they had to be replaced. I’m not buying HP for many many years from now. I’ll used their printers and desktops, but NOT AT ALL their laptops.

Yep, HP laptops sucked a few years ago, and I used to buy Dell and no other. But then Dell started making theirs bigger and bigger, almost like a desktop on your lap, and they would overheat and fry components to the point that I stopped buying Dell.

I think HP has learned from their mistakes, except for the fragile keyboard (don't drop anything on the keys or the tops will snap off)...but otherwise I have been very pleasantly surprised, esp. with Win 7 on it...;-))

My nephew, the IT guy, made that very same observation.

Lots of good articles to read later, thanks to everybody.

In the traitor column, we have Colin Powell bragging about hiring illegals.

Powell says illegal immigrants do his home repairs

The argument is that they work longer and are cheaper than legal workers.

HOW IS THAT NOT A FORM OF SLAVERY?

Thanks Bit for the Babbin article.

AND what about Carter and his new book??? I'm thinking he needs to carry an expiration date....and it should be dated....oh 30 years ago...Jan. 21, 1981 to be exact.

Carter needs a milk carton with his pic on it...HA!

And did you catch Rosalyn Cahtah talking about how the only reason they were 'perceived as a failure' is because they didn't 'get our second term.' Once a shrew always a shrew!!!

Carter now says they will concentrate on their new cause, mental illness. And would that they begin their crusade at home...;-))

Here's something that was posted in NRO's Corner the other day in the aftermath of Castle-O'Donnell that I thought interesting but forgot to post at the time.

This post was an e-mail response to Jonah Goldberg's explanation of 'electability', and the post goes directly to the heart of why we are eternally frustrated with GOP 'leadership' and why they always seem to work at cross-purposes to principle:

As a _really_ outside outsider, I’ll share why I think this [the O-Donnell win] is not a terrible thing. I live in one of the most conservative counties in a conservative state (Hendricks County, Indiana). Having attended many gatherings and fundraisers for the local Republican Party, I noticed something odd: the attendees were mostly folks who were looking for favors. That is to say, the party apparatus was mostly dominated by people who didn’t believe in limited government or even a socially-conservative agenda. They were people who had hijacked the party apparatus to advance the “favor factory” theory of government.

You have endorsed WFB’s dictum of supporting the most conservative viable candidate. I endorse that too, but I do so with the awareness that the folks who pull the strings in state and local parties often arrange things to fit their own priorities. For viability: just conservative enough to please this right-leaning electorate, but for themselves: someone who believes in their core approach of providing goodies for themselves and their friends and the perpetuation of Harry Hopkins theory of government. (Tax and tax and spend and spend and elect and elect.)

I think the world will be brighter if Tea Partiers take over more and more state and local parties and drive out these professional favor seekers and granters. Mr. Castle’s loss might mean short-term pain, but it might also mean a cleaner (and more conservative) GOP in the future.

I think this guy gets it better than anything I have seen so far...;-))

You are on a roll!

If I had a bp problem, the Carters, he AND she, you are right in bringing her up, it would be very bad here..as it is, a strong throat splitting shriek is my usual reaction.

Cronkite used to bring forth the same reaction, but he has passed from the scene....

There are several good columns at the American Spectator today, did you see???

Oh! did you hear that 0 is attending a UN meeting this week on Global Financial Initiatives?? You know what that means...something beyond "mere" foreign aid...

Am listening to Rush right now and am rediscovering why I stopped listening to him a while back.

He himself spent an entire day's broadcast on Codevilla's article, and yet he still equates GOP with 'conservative values'.

Blindly voting for the Republican party because it is closer (nominally) to our values than Dems only feeds the GOP elitists' sense of entitlement....withholding my $$$ from the GOP until they get it right sends the message I want: $$$ only directly to candidates, not to Cornyn to spritz away on the likes of Spector and Castle! HA!
