"After four years of work, personal attacks, and hours of interviews that stretched from Center City to Hollywood to St. Denis, France, filmmaker Tigre Hill is ready to unveil The Barrel of a Gun, his documentary about the 1981 murder of Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner.
And, not surprisingly, supporters of convicted killer and death row inmate Mumia Abu-Jamal - who has become a worldwide cause celebre for anti-death row activists - are right on Hill's tail."

Alive?
Doesn’t he host a freakin’ radio show out of prision?
I would stick the needle into that POS myself if they’d let me.
Imagine that a good old Black Separatist ambush and its this cops fault nonetheless they say it cant be murder.
His attorney Bryany, does not declare Mumia innocent, but says “he is not guilty of murder” references to self-defense.
Yet, supposedly someone else was in the car with them and Cook, a witness to the killing, has never testified. Most likely they would have clarity in how they really set the ambush to kill a police officer.
Radio superstar activist sees “the Man” hassling his brother, not just “a brother” but his brother. He righteously speaks to the police officer, who is confrontational and oppressive, when ‘wink wink’ “other kids or something” (as Beavis and/or Butthead would say) shot the pig - a rather revolutionary and cool act, when said pig, for reasons known only to himself (but probably racism) shot Mumia.”
After reading that I looked up the actual story.
In my class on “Womyns poetry”, cleverly listed as “English and American literature” (but preferable to “Communist Indoctrination 101”, the English and American Lit class I transferred out of), the teacher started in with the “Free Mumia” garbage and I went OFF!
I gave the actual evidence, said that the apologists don't even TRY to make a convincing case other than they don't think killing “the man” should be a crime - and that the LAST ACT of a dying police officer was to aim center mass at Mumia and PULL that trigger. I said that we as society should follow through on that last act, and he should fry.
She said “well THAT is an interesting perspective”.
I remember Thank you.
I had a similar experience, except the professor wanted me out of an interpersonal relations class, consisting of seven women and myself. Supposedly only one person complained. Therefore, I was deemed to be interfering with others free speech when I pointed out their many fallacies regarding pop-culture, news or opinions.
Your experience was different than mine. I accentuated the positive, met a lot of cool women, and spoke my mind. But I could tell I wasn't going to fit into the first class (Commie Indoctrination 101). The first book was “A Small Place” by Jamaica Kincaide which we were to discuss the first day of class. She asked what someone thought of it, and nobody had anything to say (most had not read it), I muttered to my buddy “the Communist Manifesto of the Antiguan Islands” but she overheard me and asked me twice to repeat it. The shriveled up old shrew gave me a scowl that could curdle milk! I transferred that day.
The NEXT teacher was a grad student, doing her thesis on Women's poetry, and wasn't half bad. I half suspected she wanted me- she loved my final project poem, gave me an A, and pretty much asked me out when I went to go ask what my grade was.
The Mumia discussion was classic though, nobody had much to say after she asked for support for the rally, I went OFF, and she said “well that is an interesting perspective” in that academic post-modern b.s. way. Nobody seemed to want to argue that killing the police was a revolutionary and cool act - but might attend a rally where such was winked at - about typical I would guess.
My first question to Mumia would go something like this. Can you explain how you just happened to be across the street as your brother gets pulled over for a traffic violation? It’s pretty obvious to me why his brother has never testified. Because his brother, Cook and Mumia had planned to kill a “pig”. Any “pig”, and this was the setup. The only thing that foiled their plans was said “Pig” shooting Mumia. If that had not happened, they would have all taken off and no one would have ever known it was them.
