I’m in New England, and the only thing I noticed was that the legend on the bottom sometimes was in Spanish (Jets de Nueva York, Dolphins de Miami)

I only watched the first half here in metro NYC. The titles were always in Spanish, and some of the commercials were in Spanish. When the second Spanish commercial came on I decided to see what was on some other channel for two minutes.

Political correctness and mushy-headed feelings aside...

What is the point of substituting “New York” for “Nueva York”?

Are hispanics so stupid that they can’t figure out what “New York” means? This is insulting to hispanics as well.

It’s like when our office manager handed out “basura” labels for boxes and office items we wanted to designate as “trash” for the after-hours cleaners.

A hispanic cleaner can’t learn the word “trash”? We need to translate it?! I don’t know who is more insulted by all this PC crap.

Because that's how it is translated into Spanish?

When referring to foreign countries and cities, do you use the "actual" name, or the English name?

Ciudad de Mexico (Mexico City)
Milano (Milan)
Napoli (Naples)
Munchen (Munich)
Sverige (Sweden)
Magyarorszag (Hungary)

I use the English name, of course.

And if I was watching German coverage of a national sporting event, I’d expect the scores to be in German.

How many Sumo matches have you seen translated into English?

The destruction of the US, one bit at a time... I shudder to think what the future holds for this country. I doubt it will be recognizable in a few decades.

Raiders Hall of Fame QB George Blanda dies at 83

ALAMEDA, Calif. – George Blanda, the seemingly ageless Hall of Fame quarterback and kicker whose 26-year career was best remembered for a remarkable run of late-game theatrics with the Oakland Raiders, has died. He was 83.

The Raiders confirmed the death Monday and issued a statement saying “we are deeply saddened by the passing of the great George Blanda. George was a brave Raider and a close personal friend of Raiders owner Al Davis.”

Blanda retired a month shy of his 49th birthday before the 1976 season, playing longer than anyone else in pro football history. He spent 10 seasons with the Chicago Bears, part of one with the Baltimore Colts, seven with the Houston Oilers and his final nine with the Raiders.

He scored 2,002 points in his career, a pro football record at the time of his retirement, kicking 335 field goals and 943 extra points, running for nine touchdowns and throwing for 236 more.

But it was a five-game stretch for Oakland in 1970 that is the lasting imprint from his career. As a 43-year-old, Blanda led the Raiders to four wins and one tie with late touchdown passes or field goals.

This is being done not only on Football Games but also some programs on CBS channel 2, Fox 5, and pix 11 here is a letter we are sending to all advertisers that air during these segments. everyone should jump on this before it really gets out of hand ... You should be able to copy the e-mail addresses and send a letter to all advertisers the more they hear from other consumers the stronger our position becomes...

Please note your products and or services have been added to this list due to Spanish broadcasting of these shows, programs and or events ... Advertising of your products and or services in English while the show is being broadcast in Spanish is the dumbest marketing technique I have ever witnessed ... Certainly it has aggravated a lot of people, I Know, who agree that this is a further attempt to Harass and infuriate Americans in one of the oldest frontiers... Free Antenna Tv ... We feel this will alienate more consumers than it will attract ... We may not be able to control the programming of these shows, but we do know we can control the way our monies are being spent … First of all Spanish speaking people have their own Channels for Spanish Speaking Audiences Hence American audiences will not watch a Spanish Broadcasted Program so your advertising dollars are being wasted ... Hence, Spanish speaking people that do not understand English will not understand your commercials... So, what is the point ?????

Well !!! It seems some marketing genius got the idea to broadcast certain programs on Antenna TV in Spanish ... In an attempt to Market products to Spanish

Speaking audiences... The only problem is all the advertising was in English number one and really upset our Sunday Card game while watching the games on Sunday Dec 30,2012 ... As we wondered what the problem was and spent several hours attempting to get an English version of the game we finally realized that this was actually Spanish Broadcasters announcing the game, to our dismay... Needless to say, it created quite a discussion as what to do in order to rectify the

situation...

We did notice that on the CBS 2 Broadcast of the Ravens, Colts Football game that it was in fact broadcast in English and we would like to thank them… However the Broadcasting of the Redskins Seahawks Game on Fox 5 also pix 11 is airing several shows in Spanish ...

Was broadcast again in Spanish… This is just to let you know we are paying attention… Once your product is on this list it will take 30-90 days to be removed…

After several hours of discussion we all agreed that our only recourse would be to boycott all products advertised during these telecasts and notify all Companies advertising during these televised events and programs of our intentions to Boycott all products and services advertised ... So our message is simply if this continues we will call for all our relatives friends and associates to do the same ... Therefore, our advise is if you are going to continue to advertise with The Football leagues being broadcast in Spanish or shows and or programs at this time specifically Two And A Half Men, Friends, Family Guy, Futurama, CSI Miami, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Criminal Minds and The Bold And The Beautiful that you may as well advertise in Spanish and if it’s done on American Chanels it will leave us no other choice but to excercise our options to Boycott your products and or services ... I would suggest that your CEO be advised of our intentions before it hits Facebook & Twitter and notify the Companies or Agencies their advertising ...

Note; This will include all products & Sub Products such as Hershey’s Rolos and Jolly Rancher Candies and Bayers Products Including Alka Seltzer...

We know some of these addresses may be incorrect but we will correct them and add new ones as we proceed...

We feel very strongly about this and our position... In the past it may have been very difficult but due to the internet it has become quite a powerful tool ...We are hoping your CEO’s will see our dilemma and help to rectify this annoying situation... If they continue this annoying practice they may as well do the Star Spangled Banner, their half time entertainment and all advertisements in Spanish during these segments as no AMERICANS will be watching ....

Thank You For Your Anticipated Co-operation
