An Oakland family was still waiting to get their dog's remains back from police Thursday night, two days after an officer shot the animal in their own back yard and left behind only a note.
When Mary Kate Hallock arrived home on Tuesday, she immediately sensed something was wrong.

I hope the family returns the favor. This crap has gotten out of hand. Cops can kill animals without charges of any kind.
Dog ping

Me too.
You have met my dogs, would they hurt anybody? They might lick them to death, sure, but all the want is snacks. :o)
If I ever have the occasion to call my sheriff’s department I am going to make it crystal clear that they had better not shoot my dog. She not only is friendly but she is blind.
I feel the same way about my Corgi mix who would happily go off with anyone who spoke nicely to him.
When I was a kid (decades ago) my Dad taught me how to act around a strange dog - no matter the size or breed. Its my experience that most people nowadays aren’t taught as children how to behave around dogs.
They are precious. I love them.
If you ever need help, I will bring the 3 big ones over. They will happily escort anyone that doesn’t belong in the neighborhood out.
Thanks :o)
With cops like this, who needs thugs.
Many alarms are false and cops know that. From what I read in the article, the officer was “startled” when the dog came running at him. What (for sake of argument) would have happened if a child had come running towards him? Sounds a little gun-happy to me. Just a thought
I had a Dachshund as a child. They are ferociously protective of their family.
