Just invested in a Hornady reloader kit and tumbler. The deal was sweeter with 500 bullets free (S&H) and for every new die purchased was an additional 100 bullets. Son shoots 270 Short Magnum and they are about $2.00 a shot for big game hunting.

We spend a lot of range time and pick up a lot of brass ppl just leave.

Try Ammo Engine

for good deals. One place they do not check that has good deals include
Ammoman. Note well that his price includes shipping and he will ship anything to anyplace where it is legal.

I would ask sincerely that you not do business with Sportsman's Guide or Cheaper Than Dirt as they do not support the RKBA and adamantly refuse to sell completely legal items to states like CA, MA, NY and the like just to prove a point or something. I am not talking confusing stuff but absolutely legal parts and stuff like that.

Same here, I began a serious program of stockpiling back in ‘92 when Clinton was elected. I really don’t buy too much anymore since I have enough to get through a war or two.

I’ve also saved a ton of brass over the years so if I can just keep my powder dry I should be okay.

There are a lot of great videos on Youtube that are a great source of information for anyone new to reloading.

Sportsman’s Guide is probably as good as anyone else at this point. Their prices have steadily increased over the past two years along with everyone else, so you might as well get what you can lay your hands on now. Even if you go looking for ammo deals online, people will be selling the ammo they bought last year at today’s prices.

Get what you need, and what you can afford, while you can. Remember that ammo and arms are only 2 pieces of a complex multi-level survival plan that you need to put together and tailor for your individual needs. There are no “one size fits all” answers.

And don’t forget...snipers always use reloads to increase their accuracy. I don’t type well enough to explain. :{)

I have not seen a good ammo thread on here for a long time. I guess the shortage has been surmounted.

Yep, love my Ruger 10/22 and have at least a dozen of those Butler Creek 25 round magazines along with about 25 of the 500 round “bricks”.

Reloaded cartridges are perfectly fire formed to the chamber they were fired from.

snipers always use reloads

If you have an accurate scale, simply weight a few rounds of factory ammo (not match ammo) and you will see an amazing inconsistency in weight.

Hunt up one of the thousands that dropped a $1,500 or more on ammo after the 2008 election results. I am sure they would like to get rid of their embaressing purchase - even at a loss.

You should resize the cases if they are to be used in other than a bolt action rifle. You are right though, it makes a big difference in accuracy.
