Movie making is a legitimate reason for closing a public street?
Sounds like the clowns in Oakland Michigan who decided they had the right to declare the street a gun free zone during their street fair.
According to the police it is. They're the ones who were "guarding the perimeter" that the SUV-driving cop ignored.
Movie companies generally pay substantial fees to cities, to be able to do this. Cities often consider it to be worthwhile.
When you fill out the paperwork and get the licenses and pay the fees yes movie making is a legitimate reason to close a public street. These guys didn’t just start filming in the street and expect the cops (some of whom are involved in the filming) to co-operate, there’s months worth of paperwork and thousands of dollars in above the table (and often at least as much below the table) fees to be paid.
