Obama: No shame over shovel-ready sham
The Boston Herald (online) ^ | Sunday, October 17, 2010 | Jonah Goldberg

Back in early 2009, President-elect Barack Obama was asked on “Meet the Press” how quickly he could create jobs. Oh, very fast, he said. He’d already consulted with a gaggle of governors, and “all of them have projects that are shovel-ready.” When Obama revealed the members of his energy team, he explained that they were part of his effort to get started on “shovel-ready projects all across the country.” When he unveiled his education secretary, he assured everyone that he was going to get started “helping states and local governments with shovel-ready projects.”

In interviews, job summits and press conferences, it was shovel-ready this, shovel-ready that. Search the White House Web site for the term “shovel-ready” and you’ll drown in press releases about all the shovels ready to shove shovel-ready projects into the 21st century, where no shovel is left behind.

Obama didn’t realize the term ‘shovel-ready’ would soon be affixed to his term in office.

Yesterday’s walkaround for Christine O’Donnell was enlightening, although somewhat disappointing. Given that we were in an area around UD, we expected little support. What was a surprise was the level of approval for 0bambi. These people actually wanted higher taxes, more spending and “It’s all Bush’s fault”.

Wow, Liberalism is truly a mental disorder.

BTW, Christine can use help on her phone banks. You can do it from home, especially if you are out of state. Thanks for all your support.

This scenario is instructive beyond compare as to who is sitting in the Oval Office, and the lesson to be comprehended and learned is truly frightening and scary - even beyond a Alfred Hitchcock plot.

We have a complete amateur in the Oval Office, who has no vision for going forward, or who understands what he has done in the last nineteen months or so. He is adolescent in his understanding of reality, knows nothing of the American people and their desires or trials, and even worse cares nothing about them.
He is completely self-absorbed, and has not the first inkling of what leadership means or entails. The levers of power have been placed into his hands, and he has not the slightest concept what their purpose is, other than he wants their manipulation to bring him acclaim, glory and the fulfillment of his adolescent dreams. This is why he admits to misrepresentation as an excuse for failure. Truly frightening indeed. He has no orientation, except his own glory and avoidance of admitting failure in a meaningful way. He is incapable of learning from mistakes, because he is incapable of self-examination!
His connection to power is his public speaking, and that is it! period!
Those who guided his ascend behind the scenes, by money, manipulation, and power relationships are indeed the real criminals in this debacle.JMHO

I would wager that if and when the paper trail is sorted out, it will be shown that billions of taxpayer dollars have been shovelled out the door to cronies, crooks, fellow travellers, and assorted other people. Considering the scale and scope of this rip-off, shovels will do, but forklifts would probably be a more efficient means of off-loading the treasury...

It’s not that Obama was lying when he said all that stuff. It’s just that he didn’t know what he was talking about.

Just what Reagan said -- liberals don't lie. They just know so much that isn't so.

And he has no remorse for being incompetent. No shame over being a caught-out liar. No embarassment over being a thoroughly self-aborbed narcissist.

He only has a feeling that the majority of the U.S. just 'doesn't get it.' -- 'it' being the brilliance of his agenda. 0 thinks the problems are communication and PR (and, in his little pinchy-fingered ranting, that most of the U.S. is just too stupid to comprehend).

He is more aware of how entitled he is, than of how the public views his deceptions.

“It’s not that Obama was lying when he said all that stuff. It’s just that he didn’t know what he was talking about.”

It it time yet to say that Obama is stupid or just ignorant of the normal operation of American business. (Hint: I knew he was ignorant before he was elected!).

Or both. Then there's his racism. That became clear when he assumed his friend in Cambridge, MA was correct (over a year ago) and the policeman acted out of prejudice.

Actually probably right. I have long doubted his intelligence and his racism is a given (Although not admitted by the MSM or any others for obvious reasons).

He has skated all of his life (probably for racial reasons), and now that he has to use some intelligence and or common sense, it seems to be lacking...

Pretty well sums it up, J. I do not think anyone should be elected to Pres under the age of 50; 30, 40 year olds are still too self absorbed and lack life experience such as consequences to actions. Takes a while for this to set in! Now, Obama may NEVER overcome the self absorbed deal; he ain’t too sharp to figure it out.
