A thread on Barbara Billingsley has been pulled because they called it a blog. It was taken from Associated Content that was bought by Yahoo. How is that considered a blog?
I read what I read. People seemed to be enjoying the article. What gives? Free Republic started as a blog, correct? How can Yahoo news be a blog?
I don't try to break rules here. I've been around for quite a while. I'm curious..that's all. Thanks.
Prodigy... dang... I haven’t thought of that service in so long. I had totally forgot it existed.
I signed on to *P in 1987 or 1988 when I jury rigged a modem in to a Trash 1000 it was all down hill from there. The current events board was the the place to be I think that many people that posted there eventually discovered FR.
Yahoo has syndication rights with most blog sites like Examiner (and apparently the one that article is on). It shouldn't be judged as regarding the quality or if it is FR news- Yahoo just does that so they can have articles for search results.
There was no such thing as a “blog” when FR started. It was, and still is a forum.
Remember "Ben McWarter", "BeverlyP" ha, ha? JimRob - if you're reading - ever stay in touch with any of those folks?
Reminds me why I always think of Jim Rob and the other folks who make up FR being less like political operatives and more like WARRIOR MONKS ~ having taken a vow of poverty as they lifted their weapons and launched into the total culture war.
When ^P went down the Crapper when AOL came in I went to genie, Compuserve, and Concentric Net. I had kept my *P account and when they went flat rate Internet stayed with them and dropped the rest.
Discovered FR in 19?? through a Conservative link site before the March For Justice, how far I ain't got a clue, I joined the Borg and they are cool.
I really enjoyed this post. There are all kinds of American Heroes...Jim Robinson is one.
Cletus funk?
I think I found FreeRepublic the first day Drudge put it on his page.
My Favorites heading is still “Topic White Water”
