The SEC is nothing more than ESPN hype.

What color is the sky in your world? LOL

I’ll root all the way for Auburn, UNLESS somehow we get to play them in the SECCG.

Last Four National Champions:

Florida (SEC) LSU (SEC) Florida (SEC) Alabama (SEC)

See a trend?

Oregon’s non conference schedule: New Mexico (0-8), Tennessee (2-6), Portland State (2-6) - I would hope that would help TCU (4-3 Oregon State, 4-4 Tennessee Tech, 7-2 Baylor, 5-4 SMU) get to an Auburn title game, should they both win out.

TCU has a much better case than Boise, if they win out.

Oregon still has to play Oregon State, and Auburn still has to go to Tuscaloosa, so a lot can still happen.

"It’s about keeping the money in the big conferences."

This. And the big conference fanboys.

Don't bother trying to convince them, df. There are none so blind as those who refuse to see.

Plus conference championship. Maybe adding one of those next year will give the Big Ten a little push.

Don’t forget Auburn getting screwed in 2004... :-)

Oregon takes the number 1 spot surpassing Auburn in both human and computer rankings.

Just noticed this. This is incorrect. Auburn is a unanimous #1 in the computers. Oregon is an average #2 with a range from 2 - 7.

There is no true National Champion in FBS football. It is nothing more than a popularity contest. IT HAS NEVER BEEN DECIDED ON THE FIELD!!

When Utah handed Alabama their a$$ in the Sugar Bowl 2 years ago all you heard was excuses, Alabama was dissapointed, Alabama couldn’t get up to play lowly Utah....
Utah should have been the National Champ that year. Now they are on the cusp again along with TCU and Boise, and still they get zero respect. The whole system is corrupt, and need to come down.

I have been proposing a solution for a long time, that each team should have two games scheduled for random opponents determined by a drawing at the end of the previous season.

Take the Top 32 teams according to their final ranking, put them in a hopper and draw two games against opponents in the hopper. So for example, Florida might draw a home date against Boise State, and an away date against Oregon. (A team cannot be drawn to play a team from their own conference, or a team already on their schedule).

Also, you could take the next 32 teams and have them play teams within the same tier, and so on. So that every team knows each year there are two dates, where they will face a randomly drawn opponent.

I believe this can solve the problem and still keep the current system in tact.

“I believe this can solve the problem and still keep the current system in tact.”

The current system is the problem. It needs to be blown up. What is needed is a 16 team playoff that takes the Champ from all 11 conferences and 5 at large teams. The at large would be the 5 highest ranked teams remaining. You seed the tourney using the Sargin rankings at the end of the season. This is the only way you get a true champion.

Let me ask you something, who cares about college basketball until the NCAA Tournament?

In essence in College Football there is an elimination game each and every week. That’s part of what makes it great. We just saw Mizzou and Michigan State get eliminated this past weekend.

It’s great if you are the Big 10, Big East, ACC, SEC, Big 12, and the Pac 10. Not so much if you are the MWC who has proven on the field that they can beat the so called big boys. Win your conference and your in for sure, if not pray you are one of the 5 at large.

With my proposal, the Boise States and TCUs will have two chances to show what they can do against the Big Boys. I guarantee with my proposal there will be very few unbeaten teams.

Boise, TCU, and Utah have already shown what they can do against the big boys. Just ask Alabama, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas Tech, Baylor, Oregon St, Arizona, Arizona St, Tennessee, Clemson, Virginia.....
When do they have to stop proving themselves? They have beaten the teams ESPN says they have to beat, and still they get no respect.
