They did that in previous years on neutral fields.

Let’s see what happens when they have to go to Tuscaloosa.

Now to be fair, teams will have to come to Boise as well.

I’d venture to guess that Boise, Utah, and TCU would win 3 or less games if they had to play 8 SEC teams as part of the regular season schedule.

Not so fast my friend, yes Boise beat Oklahoma on a neutral field, but TCU beat them in Norman, Utah beat Alabama at a neutral site, but the rest of those games listed were on the big boys home turf. The neutral field thing is a tired argument, you either win or you don’t. If you think you are better then prove it, at home, away, or neutral site. If you are the better team site does not matter. A W is a W, an L is an L.

...they'd clobber the Gamecocks...

I'm beginning to believe more and more as the season goes on that Spurier put almost his entire season planning into beating Bama. We won't fall for his tricks again just like we won't fall for Auburn's flea flicker/on-side kick tricks again. I can't WAIT for the REAL National Championship Game - The Iron Bowl. I'll enjoy singing Rammer Jammer come Nov 6.

That would never work, because it would be entirely too cool. The selection show for that would be more awesome than the NCAA basketball bracket announcement show.

More than likely, if the BCS were to fall, they’d go back to the old-fashioned way of letting liberal sports reporters vote for their favorite teams (AP).

Auburn still has to go to Tuscaloosa...

and have the GA Bulldogs come for a short visit to Opelika too. I think Auburn will win, but it ain't gonna be easy.

“It’s not just that you can beat one team, but if you have to beat six or seven other teams and have to play with consistency to do it, I think that goes a long way in saying a lot about what kind of football team that you have. And that’s no disrespect ... because they may certainly be able to do the same thing if they were put in that circumstance.”
- Nick Saban

Not a chance. Boise State would be just as much a contender in the SEC. They’d win their home games, and maybe lose one on the road, just like every other SEC contender. Then they’d win all of those out-of-conference games against SJSU and Duke.

You are correct. At some point teams have to man up. I hear its in the works for FSU to play Bama in Game 1 for ‘13 and ‘14.

Boise, Utah, nor TCU could ever run the table in the SEC.

And what happened the next week to South Carolina, they lost to Kentucky.

Yes a Boise State could go in and beat Bama on a given Saturday. But then they would have to keep themselves mentally up week after week, to avoid the letdowns. There are no pushovers in the SEC, especially on the road. You can probably count on having your “A-Game” maybe 2,3 games max during the course of a season, the rest, you have to win on sheer talent, and sometimes luck.

Happy...I’m a Buckeye fan so I get that. LSU and Florida ran us off the field...no 2 ways about it. Most Buckeye fans in denial but it is what it is...
I will however say that if I’m a 4 or 5 star recruit getting woo’d by Big 12/Big 10/Pac 10 or SEC...I’m going where the smokin hot chicks are...SEC. (and the nice weather)

If the locations fell right, I bet Boise could. If the two toughest games happened to fall in Boise one year, I do think they could run the tables. Historically, that kind of home/away luck has been needed for any SEC team to run the tables completely. Even this year, the winner will likely have a conference loss (I fully expect Bama to beat Auburn).

More than that, I am absolutely certain Boise could run the tables in the Big Ten more than one year.

Boise wouldn’t be accepted in either conference because they only have a what....30 thousand seat stadium? There is a reason the Pac Ten took Utah and not Boise. Utah has 45k and will expand. Boise doesn’t even sell out the stadium they have now. TCU is a TINY school with a small stadium in a market where they are invisible..though they ARE right in the middle of Texas talent. TCU has a better shot than Boise.

If Boise was ever going to get in a bigtime conference it was the Pac Ten....and they picked Utah.

In theory you are right, they would get a few players that are better, but they haven’t done the things necessary to GET in that conference, and if they went 7-5 the first couple of years...which is likely if they had gotten in for next year since Kellen Moore leaves....that momentum could be gone quickly.

Arkansas and South Carolina joined the SEC years and years ago and neither of them have even an SEC title, and South Carolina has never even been to the Championship game. And they have larger stadiums and better recruiting areas if you consider Arkansas is close to Texas and S.Car is close to Georgia.

This is purely hypothetical not based on if they should, would or could actually join one of those conferences. The facts are they would gain a whole lot in the transaction. Money, recruiting viability, In TCU’s case, which is much more likely, if they joined the Big XII, they probably become the 3rd choice of everyone in the recruiting area behind Texas and OU. right now I doubt they are anywhere close to that.

I just don’t buy the argument that either program would be static were they to join a major conference. They are very efficient and successful now with less than an ideal situation. Of course with Boise and TCU both in the same conference next year the Mountain West probably deserves an AQ as much as the ACC or Big East.
