Shows the Hollywood star how to handle a falcon during the meeting where Sheikh Hamdan was also present
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, received Hollywood star Tom Cruise who is in Dubai to shoot 'Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol'.
The 48-year-old Hollywood actor, whose death-defying stunts atop the worlds tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, grabbed global headlines only a day ago, also met Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai during the occasion.
Sheikh Mohammed showed Cruise how to handle a falcon on his arm.
As a producer, Cruise said it was hard to find places that appeared fresh on screen but that Dubai offered exactly that opportunity.
"Dubai is very cinematic. We are looking forward to present that on film," he told media at a conference earlier. "Dubai is a city I always wanted to shoot in. It's a very challenging film and people here have been extraordinary in helping us get this project going."
Cruise publically thanked Sheikh Mohammed at the conference.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Mohammed was greeted on Tuesday by Quentin Bryce, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia in Flemington, where the Melbourne Cup Carnival 2010 was held. Palomares, a filly owned by Sheikh Mohammed, won the Hybrid Plate race.
Kind of a step down after Richard Gere taught him about gerbils.

I have a friend that lives there. She sends pictures and it truly is a beautiful place.
too bad the falcon didn't decide to pluck out one of his eyeballs
WHY are these entertainers received by royalties and heads of state?
Like everyone this top banana like you or i enjoy escaping in films and books, maybe sports.
Cruise while being quite odd has been and done a lot and could be an interesting lunch.
Plus everyone loves to see their home in a film and cruise films present a large opportunity to show his off.
Course I don’t care much for mooselimbs but I may even like to at least fly over this place.
Are Tom’s movies even allowed in this country?
In Dubai EVERYTHING is allowed..... at a price.
Good point. Although I am hardly one to be so self righteous when I myself am quite bonkoid over Jet Li. He likes me, he just doesn’t quite know it yet.
Pecking order, I reckun.
Are these the UGLIEST and ICKIEST peoplen on Planet Earth
or WHAT??? (Rhetorical question)
I’m the last person in the world to make a point based on
someone’s “looks”, but in the case of these people, their global souls, their visual ‘appeal’, and their reality
are an example of “poetic justice”.
I love Jet Li films along with sveral others of his ilk.
Ya just wonder if some of these guys like him are really bad asses or fakes?
Jet Li was a Wushu champion at thirteen and he seems to lead a clean enough life. Jackie Chan is more of an acrobat than a martial artist. And Jet Li was a broadsword champion.
Oh good. World peace is at hand.
