SAN DIEGO (AP) -- The new commandant of the U.S. Marines Corps said Saturday that now is the wrong time to overturn the "don't ask, don't tell" policy prohibiting gays from openly serving in the military, as U.S. troops remain in the thick of war in Afghanistan.
"There's risk involved; I'm trying to determine how to measure that risk," Gen. James Amos said. "This is not a social thing. This is combat effectiveness. That's what the country pays its Marines to do."

Since I was honorably discharged from the US Army I have come to appreciate the fact that the USMC remains on watch, more
than any other branch of service the Marines remain true to our founding principles.Thank God we still have the Marines.

Thanks to the terrorism of Political Correctness, even MARINE Generals have to pussyfoot around an issue that if not resolved properly will destroy the macho warrior cohesion that makes the Corps the most feared and respected military force on Earth.
Though forced by Political Correctness to be hidden, the natural biological revulsion of normal heterosexual men to homosexual men in their ranks will destroy the effectiveness of the Corps by eliminating the close quartered bonds and intimate combat co-operations required to produce war winning units.
The General knows this, ALL men who pursue the marshal trades know this, but because pansy Leftists wish to frolic openly amongst rough and burly men under the protection of Political Correctness,MEN may not say this. One logical way to accommodate homosexuals is to have segregated units--but that would hamper the seduction of heterosexuals which is the root desire of the homosexual be he coach, priest, scout leader, teacher or drill instructor.

Where are our other generals - the brave West Pointers, the intrepid Boat School grads, and the daring pilots from the Springs - on this issue? Why are they afraid to speak out? Has a cat got their tongues? Have they had their backbones surgically removed? Or perhaps they've developed a yellow streak?

It is mortifying to watch our military leaders bite their tongue and speak with such extreme care about this issue. I do like his line about “that’s what you pay the Marines for”!
Nice.

A marine speaks his opinion...the armed forces is not all politically correct...It takes a marine to do the job..
