Manny Pacquiao staked his claim to be the best pound-for-pound boxer on the planet after his brutal demolition of Antonio Margarito in their WBC light-middleweight title bout in Dallas, Texas late Saturday.
Nicknamed Pacman, Pacquiao -- the only boxer in history to have won a world title at seven different weight divisions -- claimed his eighth belt in a new class after a unanimous decision over Margarito.
Pacquiao dominated from the outset, with his superior hand speed and power constantly troubling the Mexican fighter who had boasted a significant height and reach advantage.
But the champion's ruthless barrage of punches inevitably began to take their toll on Margarito's face as a nasty cut opened up below his right eye.
At one point in the 11th round Pacquiao appeared to look towards referee Laurence Cole as if he was trying to get him to call a halt to the fight.
SNIP SNIP
Pacquiao had been lined up for an eagerly-awaited clash with American Floyd Mayweather Jr. earlier this year, but negotiations broke down amid a welter of recriminations and legal threats.
A clash with Mayweather would likely be the richest in boxing history, but appears no closer to fruition.

I think Manny has proved his point, now he needs to drop the opponents weight back down to normal. The famous smile wasn’t there after that fight last night. He annihilated Margarito but he’s too small to get up to 144 from 107 and then get hit by a 165 pounder. I’m thinking Floyd will never fight him - he’s too afraid to lose and will keep making up excuses as he goes along.
Why is the MSM so fixated on the light middle-weight division, yet, for the past few years has ignored the heavy-weight division in boxing?.....rhetorical question

I’m sure you know but everyone else it is because the #1 heavyweight and most of the top ten for the last four years or so have been white.

Yep, as soon as one of the Klitschko’s gets beaten by a bum then the heavy-weight division will suddenly become “interesting” again....HBO will carry the fights live and the DWF’s will be talking about it around the water cooler....lmao
I could not believe Margarito stuck in there through the twelfth round!

The Heavyweight division is now dominated by Europeans who fight only in Europe. If there was an American contender, or they decided to stage a title fight in the USA, that would all change very quickly.
Margarito weighed 165 during this fight though, in the weighin he was 150. And yes floyd wont ever fight him, he is obviously too scared, puts all sorts of restrictions and then when manny finally agrees comes up with more excuses. Floyd brags he is the best, but you have to fight and beat the best to claim that and as of yet he hasnt. Manny is now at champion at 8 different weight levels, by far the best pound for pound fighter.
Vitali Klitschko just fought an American contender in a title fight....both he and his brother have fought fights in the U.S. Lucky for Ali that he didn't have to fight the Eastern Europeans. By the way, Ali fought title fights in Manila, Zaire, England and Germany.....do you think HBO or the MSM wouldn't cover them live today because they weren't fought in the USA? LOL

It seems to be they’re not popular because the media don’t cover them, and the media don;t cover them because they’re not popular.
Boxing is all about money, like most businesses.
During the middle rounds of the fight, Margarito sustained 3 cuts, underneath and above his right eye and one below his left eye, prompting Pacquiao to ask the referee to stop the fight.
Pacquaio actually held back during the last 2 rounds knowing he was way ahead on points.
He was asked about his holding off, he said “This is Boxing, not Killing”.
I don’t think Pacquiao needs Mayweather to prove he is the greatest anymore. In fact if Mayweather wants to erase doubts about his greatness, he should fight Pacquiao and stop giving excuses.
I watched it with my Filipino friends last night. Boy, do they know how to party! (and they dont call beer cerveza..it’s beer)
Another mexican stopped by Pacman. My Filipino friends were joking his new nickname is Border Patrol. I wished he didn’t let up in the 12th round but damn, he even shows mercy towards his opponents.
Now it’s been learned by ESPN that Marg had a fractured face and was rushed to the hospital for recovery. I really doubt now that Chickenweather will face him after this beatdown on an opponent taller and heavier by 17 pounds.
Great fight for a legendary fighter.
That's kinda like saying....well the Ali/Foreman fight in Zaire...you know the "Rumble in the Jungle"...would have been followed by the media but with the time difference and NCAA basketball and all nobody followed it....LMAO. The thought that a fight between a white Eastern European champion and a black U.S. contender couldn't be hyped and make money on HBO or any other channel is ludicrous. Trust me....the minute a black U.S. contender that can beat one of them comes along it will be hyped....in the meantime the MSM will not cover dominant white fighters such as the Klitschko brothers. All you have to do is watch almost any commercial on TV and understand the agenda here.
“the MSM will not cover dominant white fighters such as the Klitschko brothers.the MSM will not cover dominant white fighters such as the Klitschko brothers.”
You mean like no one wanted to see Larry Bird play basketball?
I’m very doubtful that it’s their race that makes them less marketable. Nationality seems much more likely. Who wants to pay good money to see a Soviet superman beat up an American? There’s no happy ending in this Rocky picture.
It’s like “Miracle, the Revenge”!
The Klitcho brothers sound like first class guys, just like Manny Pacquiao. If Wladimir gets a good agent and showcases himself properly he could conquer the American market.
These 'titles' are bogus.
And he had to get down to 150 which means he had nothing left for the fight.
I am not saying 'Pac' is not a good fighter, but lets put these fights into their correct context.
We just might have a Black man vs White man fight this coming Spring.
Vitali Klitschko ( the older of the two Klitscho brothers, who is the reigning WBC heavyweight champ ) wants to fight David Haye, a Black British Boxer and the current WBA heavyweight champ.
Vitali is 39 and Haye is just 30.
See here : http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/boxing/9192282.stm
However, Haye wants to fight the younger of the Klitscho’s — Wladimir, who is the IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight champion. Wladimir is 34 years old.
It was a great performance by Pac. Once again, the Champ is gracious in his victory, merciful towards his opponent. The idiots in Margarito’s corner and the Ref should’ve stopped the fight, all it did was make Margarito absorb Pac’s missile shots to the head which will definitely succeed in slowing Margarito’s speech.
