Ahead of a key summit this week, NATO’s secretary-general has confirmed that the alliance will not identify Iran as a threat requiring the deployment of a NATO-wide missile defense umbrella in Europe.

Anders Fogh Rasmussen’s comment indicates that Turkey, a NATO member, will get its way on the matter. Turkey’s Islamist-leaning government has deepening political and economic ties with Tehran, and it has insisted that Iran not be singled out in NATO documents.

In other news, oncologists are no longer allowed to use the words "cancer" or "tumor" because it might incite bad feelings about cancer.

NATO had a need an application and lingered on which is all just as well. Now , we are witnessing a need to redefine its original purpose.

Do you think the (65% OIC) UN would meet the needs? Heck! No. They endorse a nuclear Iran!

Conversely, they deny Israel...

Either Turkey should be politely asked to leave NATO or USA should. If USA leaves, the funding disappears and NATO disbands or becomes limp.

Effete diplomats think Turkey is a NATO member.

We know different. They are dirty Islamists and should be kicked to the curb.

And isn’t it interesting that our much beloved Appeaser in Chief will be on hand personally for the NATO summit to endorse at the highest level this travesty (or is it suicidal idiocy?) pretending to be a security policy?

If I were the new Republican head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, my first order of business would be to hold hearings on whether Turkey should continue as a member of NATO.
