I definitely am no Auburn fan. (ROLL TIDE) But I gotta support my conference. Heck, I would even pull for (gasp) Florida if it meant an SEC National Champ, although there is no way in hell I would ever root for Georgia to win anything. As for Auburn, there is a part of me that would like to see them finally get their chance at a National title. They have been badly burned thrice already in that regard. So let's go, SEC. Bring home another BCS Championship.

btw, having Florida lose to the hated Spurrier Gamecocks will actually hurt Auburn's chances. Beating South Carolina a second time will cause their BCS rating to fall.

Did I mention that Georgia sucks? To hell with Georgia!

Fairly DID commit a cheap shot, (and drew a 15-yarder.)

How about all the other incidents of driving Murray into the ground, gouging with his face on a guy that is approx. 100lbs. lighter? Go back to page one of this thread and look at the pictures I posted. Most are of separate events.

Fairley did nick himself when he and another player came down hard on Murray during a run. Again, it was a spear play where Faireley Dirty should have been penalized and probably ejected after the other incidents. There is a chance he will hurt himself seriously with the spearing, but more likely he will really hurt another player.

I am hoping for a good SEC officiating crew (I know, an oxymoron) for the Iron Bowl.

Roll Tide!!

I call the attempt on Fairly as ‘justifiable anger’ if nothing more to get the attention of what had happened BEFORE, since nothing more than ‘yards’ were issued out and the health and welfare of the QB within the rules was ‘ignored’.

The ONGOING actions of Fairly (in more than just this game) must be taken into account. He hurt his own shoulder trying once again to drive another QB into the turf. Once, ok. Twice, agressive defense. Ongoing = dirty. And i’ll bet ANYONE not a Auburn fan that saw this game has the similar reaction.

And if that’s not enuf, just WHO were the one’s ejected by throwing punches?

Newton’s head slap was also another example of playing outside the intent. There was NO stiff in that arm.

disclaimer: i am a LSU fan so i do have a bit of bias.

That’s made by idiots who consistently rank all the BCS conference teams, mediocre as most are, as tougher than WCC and MWC teams. It hasn’t been true for a long time.

Confirmation that politics isn't your only area of delusion.

Didn't TCU play a #5 team,

#5 teams don't lose to Notre Lame.

One of the reasons I love SEC rivalries is their intensity. PAC football is full of rivalries (eg, Stanford v Cal or USC v UCLA) but the competition between these schools is tepid compared to almost all competition in the SEC.
By the way, I wouldn't assume that Auburn will roll over Carolina. Spurrier has a way of winning games that should be lost, eg, Alabama and Fla.

It would be better for the SEC if they lost than to have the NCAA zap their title and humiliate our league the way it happened with USC and Reggie Bush.

Roll Tide and I will even say, cluck cluck cluck, Gamecocks!

I’m really torn on the SECCG, on the one hand I want to see Auburn continue the streak, but I also would like to see Spurrier finally win one at South Carolina.

Funny how all SEC Stadiums look the same from the outside, strip out all of the Auburn signage and it looks just like The Swamp from the outside.

Before the game, I wanted UGA to win, but I felt like they didn't have a chance and I would be fine with Auburn winning and hopefully going the distance. I didn't realize how dirty Farley was and how the whole team - including the coaches - egged it on.

Not that it will matter a hill of beans, but I want Auburn to loose now in the worse way.

If they get penalized for paying $Cam's dad, I won't shed a tear, but will be embarrassed for our conference and the college game.

The problem people have with the BCS is the arbitrary nature of picking 1 and 2. If we went to an 8 or 16 team tourney, we would have the same arbitrary picking. People have been saying that non-BCS couldnt play with the big boys but Utah beat Pitt, Utah beat Alabama, Boise beat Oklahoma, while Hawaii lost to Georgia, so there is precedent for small schools to win.

So if we had a tourney, would we leave out Utah for a 4th SEC school because of strength of schedule? You cant really compare the two, because Utah cant help the conference they are in. Utah will point to playing tougher non-conf while the SEC team will say they scheduled cupcakes because they have a tough conf. It is the exact same argument we are having now with the BCS. We would just be changing fields, but playing the same game.

I think we should go back to poll titles, because they didnt have to vote on who the BCS chose. If the Rose Bowl had 1 and 2, but 3 blew out the Sugar Bowl, the voters could select 3.

As for the other sports, they play enough games between non-conference opponents, about half of their season, that their overall record can be truly reflected against the nation. Plus, they have conference tournaments, so you know who is really the best in each conference. In football, you could go 6-2 in conference, winning your last 6 with blowouts, and not even make the Conference Title game.
