I think the concentration of anti-Romney articles is a pre-emptive warning to any would be Romney supporters to simply stay away from FreeRepublic. I don’t know what went on here during the last primary that caused the mass banning of posters. I somehow missed the whole thing, but FreeRepublic hasn’t been the same.
Today, the biggest subject on the news is the failure of the Obama judiciary to win the prosecution of the terrorist and I only saw one post on the subject. I don’t care about Mitt Romney, one way or the other because I don’t think that he can win the nomination. The Republicans cannot afford to let the Democrats pick our candidate for us again.
By jolly, I believe you're beginning to catch on.
FR is a pro-life, pro-family, pro-liberty constitutional conservative site.
Abortionists, gay rights activists, Statists, RINOS, RudyBots, RomneyBots, et al, can KMA!! They're NOT wanted here!!
The big purge in 2008 was Rudy Giuliani supporters. Some had a habit of miss-stating Ronald Reagan positions in order to make Giuiliani look more conservative, and it rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.
Not being a part of any active campaign, I usually completely miss that there are actually people who sign up at sites like this as part of a political campaign strategy. I think it would be cool if that didn’t happen for any candidate, but I don’t remember it being distracting or anything.
I think the important thing is to not end up like 2008, where conservatives spent so much time attacking each other’s candidates that we never were able to settle on one that could win, so we ended up with John McCain.
No its not. Screaming zealots. No room for thoughtfulness. FR has totally changed in the years I’ve been here, so I’ve become scarce, and now I’m am gone.
Flame away, “real” conservatives.
I think the majority of them were sent packing to join "wankers for Rudy", Jim's words, not mine.
Some compared him to Reagan and other real conservatives.
What are you talking about? In 2007, a bunch of Giuliani fetishists ignored warning after warning from the owner of this site and got kicked off to form their pathetic little Wideawakes site. The thread in which Mr. Robinson stated his fervent opposition to Giuliani for president is the longest I ever recall here. The Wideawakes whined, bawled, insulted, and argued. Every several threads somebody got zotted.
I'm a cranky old man, but I've always been treated well here by the owners of the site. When I encounter nasty, abrasive people who want to argue that apples are grapes, I try to ignore them. That hasn't changed since I've been here dating to 1998. A glitch made me re-register in 1999.
I see very little difference. If anything we have more liberals and statists and clowns and trolls.
Jim is very patient, but those that don't heed his warnings are not so wise, and he is giving a lot of notice this time.
