Sometimes, food alone cannot make a meal. Your overall enjoyment in a restaurant can be radically enhanced by the right atmosphere and setting. For example, many believe that fish and seafood taste better in view of water. It's not that the composition of the food is actually any different, but rather that when your brain is stimulated your reception to seafood is altered...

IMHO, a couple of the concepts are not so much "bizarre" as "irritating". Grapefruit-cutting Ninjas? I'll pass.

I will say there are some clever choices on the list, though. The Fort in Colorado sounds like a keeper (anyplace that serves bison is a keeper), and I have to try Tony Packo's now that I know Klinger wasn't just making it up. (grin)

Here's a slideshow to all the places, btw:

We got a place back home - Curtis' Original Coney Island Wieners - that is our version of Tony Packo's. Sweat dogs to die for. Been around over a century and still drawing out-of-towners like a bear's butt draws flies. Some say it's the Coney sauce; some say it's the dog itself; most can't put a finger on it. But you get 'em wrapped in wax paper and buy 'em buy the bag, then put 'em in front of a crowd, and they disappear like bugs under a spotlight. They call them 'sweat dogs' because back in the day, they'd line them up their arm by the dozen while they prepped the buns to throw them on.

"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."

“I have to try Tony Packo’s now”

Tony Packo’s is great. I like their chili. Growing up in Ohio, our local grocery store carried their yummy pickles. Tony Packo’s is definitely worth a visit.

We must be talking about Debevic’s in different cities. We don’t have a La Cienega Blvd. in Phoenix that I know of...

“I didn’t click the slide-show...was that The Heart Attack Grill?”

Kinda difficult to get my humor, without the visuals from the slide show.

Yes, Heart Attack Grill.

I sussed it pretty quickly. I know of the place. Breaks my heart all the times I have to drive past it and not stop. The waitresses do, in fact, look like that. A stethoscope is a nice accessory.

Every time I drive past this place in Willow Grove, I can't help but laugh:

I’ve raised goats. They are eating and pooping machines. It’s a constant non-stop what goes in one end comes out the other 24/7. I’ll pass on eating with goats.

Being of Swedish ancestry and vacationing in Door County, Wisconsin, many times throughout my life, I've been to Al Johnson's in Sister Bay a lot. Good Swedish food, pleasant atmosphere, and a nice Scandinavian gift shop. The goats are only on the roof. ;^)
