One morning when we were preparing for a flight, I turned the trike camera on early while we were still in the hangar. Fred, who is a long time supporter of this project and a good friend, was watching and wrote us this note.
Sitting here looking at the workshop area of the hangar I reckon, Listening without understanding to the banter while they put on their snowsuits. Id love for one of those guys sometime to write a little piece that talks about what it feels like on a morning like this that is, theyve been doing this ritual now for several years, countless times getting up on days when they are pretty sure theyll fly with the birds. Is the excitement level still there? Is it in the least getting to be old hat? Does the adrenalin still flow? Lifetime wannabe pilot in Alabama, not to mention lifetime lover of wildlife -- Fred.
Over the years, we have accumulated thousands of hours flying with birds. It was last year at this time that we passed the 10,000 mile mark. All that distance at 38 miles per hour gives you time to think. Through most of it however, we are too busy for serious reflection.
