Golly! That sounds like a curse.

So we went from "Morning in America" to "the twilight of the gods". Wow, how time flies.

Pardon me while I sit here and reminisce about "back in the day".

"Götterdämmerung" is the fourth and last opera in Richard Wagner's opera cycle "The Ring of the Nibelung".

In this opera, the gods have fallen and their home, Valhalla, is in flames. The mortals are about to seize control of the Earth after the corrupt gods have essentially destroyed themselves.

Sounds kind of like what we would want to have happen in America - the elites self-destruct through arrogance and excess, and the regular folks wrest control from them in order to re-establish a free republic.
