I know that there's an opportunity for some silly joke, but I can't think of any at this time...I'm very tired and it's too poorly worded for me right now. The multiple pronouns are too confusing to me:

“As the deputy grabbed his(the suspect's right vs left) arm and placed him the suspect in handcuffs, he (Name of officer) reported the suspect put the cane in his other (Right vs left) hand and began hitting him in the leg with the cane while yelling and cursing.”

"In handcuffs" isn't right, either, I don't think... Maybe later....or...not...
