A man was chased down by bystanders moments after he allegedly molested an 8-year-old girl in a Walmart store in San Leandro, the second such incident in the East Bay in less than two weeks.
The latest incident happened at the Walmart at 1919 Davis St. at about 7 p.m. Friday, when the girl was shopping with her family. Her brother became separated from them, and the girl volunteered to look for him, police said.
Soon afterward, the girl returned to her mother in tears and said a man had grabbed her from behind and had put his hand down her pants, police said.
She pointed him out to her mother, and the mother notified store employees.

The risk of being arrested, forced to register as a sex offender, and becoming a social pariah is thrilling? Once again, I don’t get it.
I hear what you are saying, but as another poster pointed out, years and years ago, this scumbag would have never made it to the police station. He would have been “shot trying to escape”, or something similar.
Castration doesn’t really work. Or at least, not reliably. Any farmer will tell you that removing the testes does not extinguish an animal’s sexual desires and often times does not even eliminate its ability to perform. When applied to human vermin, it might even make such creature even more dangerous because they would need a higher powered “kick” to gain release.
As for Vick. I personally dislike dogfighting, but it’s not that much worse than cockfighting or even bullfighting. I don’t think that he or any of the audience were getting a sexual thrill from the exhibitions.
You’re point on the death penalty is well-taken, but I was speaking about the way I think things should be — not the way they are. In my opinion, if one of these scumbags is caught red-handed and there is no question of guilt, a trial is a needless waste of taxpayer money.
Homicide in the public interest will do just fine.

Police used to do a lot of things that would be unacceptable today. Heck, they shot John Dillinger from behind with no warning whatsoever, and he wasn’t a sex criminal.

Hard to say, although it does cut down on one’s testosterone level. Of course, you can still have an erection and achieve orgasm, balls or no balls. Sometimes, castration totally removes all urges, other times not.
Even when you’re a prepubescent boy, you still have some sexual urges, although they remain weak until puberty.

It’s also a fact that many death-row inmates take years to be executed, if ever, all the while costing taxpayers $90,000 a year to house (as compared to $50,000 for normal inmates). But sometimes you get lucky and nature executes them like with Jessica Lunsford’s killer getting cancer.

Perhaps, but the Constitution states that everyone is entitled to a fair trial, so whether we like it or not, that’s how the justice system works.

No, I don’t think there were more. It was just much easier to get away with it. Especially before modern police techniques and telephones. A person could move through an area, molest and murder a child, hide the body and be gone before very many people knew he was around. Just like serial murderers have been around forever. I read the other day that there have been 185,000 unsolved murders in the US over the past 20 years alone. That means there could be hundreds or even thousands of serial murderers out there. Up until fairly recently, putting together common data on all those murders was virtually impossible.

That’s because you are a normal healthy person.
It’s an evil spiritual and mental illness. The predator is compelled to take the risk, no matter the consequence. Usually the need for risk escalates to the point where they end up killing someone. They have no control, which is why people like this should either be put to death or never let out of jail.
That’s too much to expect. All a girl or woman would have to do is to nick the man, enough so that he sheds some blood. That is usually enough.
Remember that much of the psychology of male aggression towards females is less sexual than dominance oriented. Such attackers often have feelings of inadequacy, so they seek out a female they think is weaker than they, to brutalize.
One good nick, however, just about anywhere, will often set him on a flight panic.

In olden times, slum children were a common target. Albert Fish (a real headcase who practiced cannibalism and self-torture) admitted at his 1934 trial that he used to rape and murder black boys because no one cared about or would miss them.
Exactly. There have always been orphans, prostitutes, and homeless people who were preyed upon by perverts and murderers. They were easy because they rarely had anyone who would even miss them when they were dead.

Which is why you get your dog neutered and why I proposed castrating rapists and molesters. At least the dog doesn’t know any better.
I’m inclined to agree with you that psychotherapy/rehabilitation programs (and some prisons have tried them for sex criminals) don’t work.
