DHS to check, control your home energy use as an item of National Security
WRKO radio | 12/20/10

Posted on 12/20/2010 12:30:33 PM PST by pabianice

Heard on car radio. Janet Napolitano has announced that since energy use is "a matter of national security," the DHS is setting in place a system to check on individuals' hone use of electricity, esp. ensuring that no light bulbs be incandescent in 2012. Good news for companies that sell remote-monitoring energy meters I guess. Obama is doubling-down again; intends to use executive authority to impose his rule.

A goal of obama's marxist group and the smart grid. Former EPA head and now energy czar Carol Browner, (socialist party member) Because they can't get cap and tax passed it is not a security issue they will force. “We need to make sure that …[e]ventually, we can get to a system where an electric company will be able [sic] to hold back some of the power so that maybe your air conditioner won’t operate at its peak, you’ll still be able to cool your house, but that’ll be a savings to the consumer.” http://forum.pressdemocrat.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=876

Something for those who wish for another World War 2 to mull over. If the real thing comes down, and those people are in charge, guess who's going to be waltzing into the Rationing Board and telling y'all what you're going to be giving up.

It is all about getting rid of sub contract labor to read the meters.

Is that part of 0bama's Federal Job Elimination Program?

Any citizen may be exempted from Homeland Security Energy Monitoring if they agree to shelter a Mexican Illegal Alien in their home.

Application forms are available at all Mexican Consulates.

I don't think so... I was talking to a person that works for the Southern Company that owns Mississippi Power and I see their sub contractors on occasion... and some months they don't read my meter... and I have had to get my bill corrected because of this. This was started before obama came into office.

Please, somebody get Incompetano a nice vibrator so she can occupy herself without screwing up the country.

This one is made in Russia, so it should be perfect for her.

These jackass appointees-to-power are going to keep it up until the majority of Americans get tired of it. Remember November.

They came around and offered to put a radio transmitter on our water meter for free. The meter reader still drives his/her route but doesn’t have to drive in the driveway. They just read it from the street. That’s one less person who has an excuse to be on our property. I told them to go for it.

Well, we’ve got oil lamps. I’ve heard that those curly light bulbs are fire hazards. Oh, well. I don’t know how they can thwart oil lamps and wood stoves; but they’ll probably try.

Constipated Energy and the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company are attempting to get the ‘Smart Meter” scheme put into service in Maryland. From what I have read our energy use will be monitored, and peak usage times will have a sir charge to control use. If this is right we will have to get used to setting at home in the dark and cold several times a week. They are getting close, very close.

Anyone know the answer to this:

I’ve got, say, a lamp that used to take a 60 watt incandescent bulb. Now it is recommended that I use a “60 watt” florescent replacement bulb that only uses, say 15 watts (and, of course, doesn’t hold a candle to the old 60 watt incandescent).

Can I safely put a 100 watt florescent bulb in , since it uses only 25 Watts, still much less than the 60 watt rating? It might, then, actually provide decent light (although the spectrum would still suck).
