Retired Marine Corps drill instructor and actor R. Lee Ermey took an opportunity to rail against the Obama administration during a Dec. 10 appearance on Roe & Roepers Miracle on Indianapolis Blvd. Holiday Extravaganza live broadcast to benefit the USO. The retired vet stressed that the Marines Toys 4 Tots program was working through the struggling economy to bring holiday cheer to young boys and girls, but also delivered a political punch to the Obama administration which he claimed was trying to destroy the country by imposing socialism:

There was a time when that kind of exchange could have and probably did happen. I was going through a special program in the Navy and I can recall the one black kid in the program was called out of formation and told to wear a bandana to cover his teeth so he “wouldn’t give away our position at night”. Hilarious and no one was discharged, court martialed or booted out of the service.
Don't worry, you're not alone; I and (I'm sure) scores of other FReepers haven't seen the commercial being discussed, either.
Jackwagon ping!
The title is honorary and has no bearing on Ermey's monthly disability check. It has as much significance as Jones' "promotion" of Gomer Pyle to Lance Corporal.
This summer R. Lee Ermy was signing autographs at a local store and was supposed to do so for three hours. The crowd was large and he stayed FIVE hours, talked to everyone, signed multiple autographs for every one, and was nice as could be. When my 17 year old said he wanted to be a medic in the marine Corps, Mr. Ermy explained that the USMC uses Navy medics but told my son how he could ask for FMF (Fleet Marine Forces) duty after getting out of Navy medic schools. And he explained that medics tend to go to locations where the enemy already know the range and vector.
Having been raised in Southern California, I have run into to many celebs who where not worth a damn. Gunny Ermy impressed me as a genuine nice guy and his acting!
If it short-d*cks every cannibal in the Congo!"
Never did understand that one completely.
Staff Sergeant
...what more do you want.
A legitimate promotion warrant.
The DI knows that with Obama we are already living in “Mamby Pamby” land.
beginning to sound a lot like the birth certificate farce...
my, my there certainly are a lotta numbnutz out there these daze—raised in the socialist schools, conditioned by hollyweird, reinforced by more of the same—conditioned to the nth!!!!
Is it unusual for a Marine to retire a SSGT (E-6) after 20 years of service? I know it would be in the army.
I love this guy. His good example in character is multiplied by the fact he is fun at the same time.
Quite a few nonhackers out there, Gunny.
Ermey was medically retired after 11 years of service.
This is gonna be a funny thread ping! ;-)
Not usuak anymore—if a SNCO isn’t promoted wuthin a certain time period he is not allowed to ship over (reenlist).
Gotta be competitive—up or out I believe they call it.
B4 WWII it was common for privates even to retire with 20 or ecven 30 years service—corporals and buck sergeants even more common.
Not yer grand daddy’s America anymore—more like 0’pinhead’s we the folks now.

Jackwagons around the world will protest being compared to Obama Lama Ding dong!
Thanks Gunny. I just thought it might be unusual for a former Marine DI to retire an E-6.
Okay, thanks.
