Austin, TX - Two men charged with driving while intoxicated had their charges reduced to public intoxication after police arrested them for riding a horse and donkey down 6th Street.
Jose Rios, 33, and Samuel Olivo Jr., 48, were caught riding a horse and donkey in the 300 block of E. 6th Street while intoxicated. The two were coaxing people on the street to come, take pictures and pet their horse and donkey. Officers say the two were impeding traffic and could have caused an accident.

Two cowboys walk into a bar with a horse and a donkey....
I wondered where my hubby went the other day.
just kidding
Punchline: “And that’s when I told the genie I wanted a companion with a nice ass and a mane of flowing blonde hair.”
They might have gotten away with that in say Valley View or Ponder or Aubrey... but for sure not on austin’s 6th St. :-)
My husband’s mother’s cousin, “Wild Bill” Day of Cook County, GA., used to share a bottle of liquor with his horse, Snow, and ride him through the courthouse in Adel, GA.
Of course it terrorized the town folks but Bill was mean when sober and meaner when drunk so nobody messed with him.
They just let him ride it out and leave, “peaceful-like”
He’s been gone a long time now but one of those kinfolk who will live on in family stories. This was a tame one.
Another job we can’t get Americans to do!
That’s exactly what I was going to point out....that Austin’s motto is “keep Austin weird”. They are living up to it!
I’ve met a guy a couple times that owns a longhorn that he brings to events. He told me that he took it into his daughter’s dorm at Angelo State for a goof. I thought it was just drunk talk until I saw it on You Tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPxerK83HxU
Not too many years ago I was having one of many beers in a bar in Paradise Valley, Nevada and one of the local buckaroos rode his horse into the bar, made a circle around the pool table and out again. No one made a big deal out of it...and apparently it happened a lot.
Drunk rides again.
