'Older White People' Are Bigots, Says NBC News’ Matthews
Fox News ^ | January 17, 2011 | Fox News

Posted on 01/23/2011 11:29:26 AM PST by John.Galt2012

Appearing on MSNBC, Monday, to promote his new special on Barack Obama, Chris Matthews attacked "older white people" for still holding bigoted feelings against the first African American President.

Lavishing praise on younger Americans, he added, "And I think that's a generalization and I'll stick with it. I think younger people do not see race as an obstacle." He then touted the "non-judgmental" attitude of Obama voters, fawning, "In fact, they say [race is] irrelevant and don't even notice it, whereas older people notice it all the time."

This has been bugging me for quite some time now and I would like to hear from the FReepers on this as we are going into the election cycle. BLUF, words mean $#!T /s...the progressives love to hijack words and twist the meaning. I have been called a racist, just as I am sure many of you have. I correct the accuser by saying, "No, I am a bigot", which usually gets me a smug "I knew it!" look. However, I have a different understanding of the word. The term Bigot, circa 1598, comes from Old French, supposedly a derogatory name for Normans, the theory being that it springs from their frequent use of the old English oath "bi God". But the earliest Fr. use of the word (12th century) is as the name of a people apparently in southern Gaul. The earliest English sense is of "religious hypocrite" especially a female one, and may be influenced by the word "beguine" which were a sisterhood of Roman Catholics active in the 13th and 14th century, living in a loose semi-monastic community but without formal vows. In 1935, Websters defines bigot as, "one who is unreasonably and blindly attached to a particular creed, church, or party; one who is intolerant of opinions which differ from his own." Notice it says nothing about race, color or ethnicity. So when I say I am a bigot, I am saying that I am blindly and unabashedly attached to the ideals of liberty, individualism, American exceptionalism, and fiscal conservative values; that I am completely and vehemently opposed to and intolerant of communist, Marxist and socialist ideals and objectives in every way. An example of a "modern" definition of the word is, A bigot is a prejudiced person who is intolerant of any opinions differing from their own or intolerant of people of different ethnicity, race, class, religion, or gender. Notice how they tack that last phrase on there to change the whole definition. How does race, ethnicity or class relate to church, creed or party? So my question is this, what do you call yourself to demonstrate that there is a difference between a racist and someone who just doesn't buy into the liberal (another word they hijacked) progressive bunk no matter how pretty and sugarcoated you make it? My "bigotry" is narrowly focused towards those Marxist political ideals. How about, Olde English, Anti-Marxist political Bigot???

So, Chris Matthews, an older white, is basically saying he’s a racist? No surprise there.

See...therein lies my question. Is he a bigot, a racist, or both?

After watching his little buddy Olbermann get hit in the ass by the door on his way out, you can bet Tinglebell is going to back off on the incendiary and vitriolic anti-American BS that he spews at Caucasian Americans. If he doesn’t that door will be hitting his boney little ass next.

Matthews lost me way back at the “tingle” going up his leg every time he heard Obama. Sounds like the “tingle” had very little to do with race. - So, I ignore Matthews and care not what inanity he is uttering from day to day.

Matthews loves to say things like this when there’s no chance that he would suffer repercusions.I’d love to have him call me a racist face to face.In an elevator.Stopped between floors.

You are far too intellectual for combat with Chris Matthews. Chrissy is 65 years-old and clearly an old white bigot. If you have noticed his commentary is always based on his own projections and soul searching (so far he’s come up empty).

He really should find a priest in the confessional and seek absolution for his sins.

Personally, it's never been about race. If the candidate fits my idiological profile, and that person is the best, then I will vote for him...Racism is just another smear the leftist media uses to promote their agenda.

Thus, by liberal logic, Matthews himself is a bigot.

“And I think that’s a generalization and I’ll stick with it...”

Making a generalization about a particular group of people is pretty much the definition of a bigot.

This older white person is not a racist. I don’t like the policies and actions of Obama’s white half either!

You just have to believe that Chris Matthews lives in a predominantly black neighborhood in DC/sarc.

” I think younger people do not see race as an obstacle”

I’m an “older” person and don’t see race as an obstacle. I’d vote for Allen West or Herman Cain in a heartbeat. I am biased, however, against socialists that are trying to turn the US into a third world country.
