Climate change: Dogs of law are off the leash

PARIS — From being a marginal and even mocked issue, climate-change litigation is fast emerging as a new frontier of law where some believe hundreds of billions of dollars are at stake.

Compensation for losses inflicted by man-made global warming would be jaw-dropping, a payout that would make tobacco and asbestos damages look like pocket money.

Imagine: a country or an individual could get redress for a drought that destroyed farmland, for floods and storms that created an army of refugees, for rising seas that wiped a small island state off the map.

In the past three years, the number of climate-related lawsuits has ballooned, filling the void of political efforts in tackling greenhouse-gas emissions.

Eyeing the money-spinning potential, some major commercial law firms now place climate-change litigation in their Internet shop window...

Can't we just outlaw lawyers? Please???? Just make all of them do something useful like picking up garbage. That would take care of most of the nitwits in office as well.

This is what you get when you elect lawyers to make laws. They line their pockets.

The headline is misleading as in wishful thinking. Not one dollar has been awarded to date.

Not yet. It took tobacco litigation a while to get going, too, but once the first big case was one, the dam burst and every single lawfirm in the country and abroad got in on the action.

The difference is that cigarettes came with a warning label backed up by medical proof, not thoery. Now that the thoery and psuedo-proof of AGW are being shot down, it has no verifiable evidence to stand on. Add to it when the scammers are subjected to discovery, they will melt away like a snowball in hell.

I see this story as nothing more than another attempt by those who sold their docket list on getting in on the scam vaporizing and just hoping that some idiot with his last few bucks in their pocket will “invest” it on just another long list of sheister lawyers.

People sued for “second hand smoke” exposure and all sorts of things that have now been debunked - and they (or the lawyers, actually) won big. There’s actually a lot of pseudo-science in the tobacco world, too.

I agree that this is just a fishing expedition, but at the same time, I don’t think we should dismiss it. All they need is one win.

In a court of law, the winning side has to present a logical case. This includes facts and proofs. The case for AGW simply cannot be made. The suit cannot be won by saying: “AGW is real because James Hansen says so”.

What does that matter when you may have to face ignorant, brainwashed juries and activist judges?

GULLABILITY + IDIOCY + GREED = AGW PROFITS

The Global Alarmists are STILL saying that 2010 is the warmest year EVER. They missed the fact that 4500 of the 6000 temperature reporting stations were closed because they didn’t show warming. They missed the fact that many of the remaining temperature reporting stations are in heat islands and near jet plane exhaust, incinerators, etc. They missed the fact that that it’s snowing after one of their “saints” said that British children will never see snow.

They seem to have missed the facts. They only believe a person if they are paid off by the government in the form of grants. They will believe you if you are a bitter blowhard who lost an election and whined until there was a recount, which resulted in showing that he lost by an even wider margin, got a D in college in a Class called “Man’s Relation to Nature,” who made over $100 million from the AGW hoax, and he believes that it’s “several million degrees” 2 kilometers beneath the earth’s surface.

The Global Alarmists believe people who hijacked the name of “scientists” that went on a vacation to Cancun to try to persuade the dwindling believers in man-made global warming that their few hundred (do they still have that many?) are the really real true pinky swear REAL scientists and not the 31,000 “fringe” scientists who say it’s a scam. The Cancunians tried to convince us by praying to a false deity, from a civilization that is gone, about a problem that does not exist.

The Cancunian “Consensus” members also signed petitions to ban “harmful” dihydrogen monoxide.

I heard a loudmouth in the bookstore on a cell phone shouting that a politician was “inbred” , ironically, because he DIDN’T believe in AGW.

It proves that P.T Barnum was right.

I would like to see a counter-suit against all the fraudsters that are bringing this to court, with heavy duty penalties and restoration payments to all those defrauded + prison time to those like Al “Tommy Flanagan” Gore who promoted the hoax.
