Teacher pleads not guilty to sex charges

The Plainfield North High School physical education teacher accused of having sex with a student pleaded not guilty this morning in a Will County courtroom.

Ashley M. Blumenshine, 27, of Lisle appeared in court this morning with her attorney, George Lenard, where she pleaded not guilty to one count of aggravated sexual abuse.

Blumenshine, who wore a long pink coat and black slacks, said nothing but stood by her attorney before Will County Judge Richard Schoenstedt.

Her next court date is March 2.

Blumenshine and two adults who came with her to court Wednesday declined comment after the hearing. Lenard also declined comment.

“We can’t say anything,” Lenard said.

Plainfield police found Blumenshine and a 16-year-old male student in a vehicle behind a Kohl’s store in Plainfield on Jan. 4. Both admitted to having sex, a Will County assistant state’s attorney said at Blumenshine’s bond hearing.

Gentlemen don’t discuss what goes on in private. To do so ensures the ban on participation in any future encounters. Women don’t like men who have bad manners, but women sure like to hand out the ammunition.

School liason officer chatting it up with gossip sources. Once she or he hooked a rumor, it’s all a nightmare from there. There does not even have to be an interested party filing a complaint. In Wisconsin, the county will do it even though nobody wants to pursue it. I saw it happen at the school in my town. It does not even have to occur at the school or even with a teacher. If the liason officer in the course of duties finds out that two 16 0r 17 year olds are playing the naughty, they arrest them and press charges. The result is that they become sexual offenders and have to register. It’s really sick.
