I know Mubarak aint no saint, but has anybody heard what the complains of the people are?
He has been in power for 30 years.

Where are the 350 American Hostages? That is what made Iran so bad. We would have cared less what was going on in Iran had the hostages not been part of it. Same with Egypt. Unless we take casualties or hostages no one really cares. Now of course I have been to Egypt on vacation and it was great but their politics are going to change one way or the other.

I doubt this goes they way you’re thinking. It seems to be running a similar course to Lebanon. After Rafiq Hariri’s assassination, the Cedar Revolution attempted to form a government free of outside interference, largely from Syria. Six years later, we have Hezbollah (Iran, by proxy) calling the shots. Might seem OK in the initial phase, but won’t end well if the MB is included. Democratic rule isn’t their main concern.
I think this is exactly like what happened when the Shah of Iran fell.

I don’t see a “Violent Overthrow” at all. I see protestors marching and expressing the opinions that Condi Rice, in the linked video, said they were entitled to and that the Mubarak regime keeping them from.
Mubarak hasn’t visited D.C. in 5 years. Is that because he’s a closet “mooselimb” conspirator? Or maybe it’s because W saw him as a hindrance to democracy in the region.
I don’t claim they’re Mensa candidates. I just think this is more a case of them having seen what is possible (Iraq) juxtaposed against what they keep getting from Mubarak.
I don’t think this is an Islamist revolution.
